To expand on your hip-hop metaphor, "Bloodborne" is Jay-Z and Lovecraft is BIG. It's not a line or two. It's not some random, generic hip-hop catch phrase like "keep it real". It's specific Lovecraft references. Dozens, actually. Multiple game play mechanics. The DLC. Damn near the entire second half of the base game.

I never said it doesn't have a story. I said it doesn't have much of a story. And it doesn't if you remove everything inspired by Lovecraft.

Fred.
Homage references that don't equate to a non original story.

And for the record I'm not shytting on the game at all. I love it. It's the main reason I copped a PS4. But cats cannot be familiar with Lovecraft's material, to be downplaying what this game took from his stories.

Fred.
Ur downplaying the origininality of the story to show everyone how you caught the references. It's ok pal.

Sometimes when we know the original sample to a song it diminishes some of the appeal

The story itself is not taken from Lovecraft

The game has alot of story if you choose to look for it.

You can swap every lovecraft reference with anything else and the story will be the same.

You in here arguing that the games story is made up of mostly lovecraft references with no rhyme or reason for making sense.

Just cause something like metal gear took obvious influences from escape from new York doesn't mean the shyt is just a bunch of references to that movie.

Just cause dishonored has lovecraft influence doesn't mean that's all the game is.

Just cause castlevania is clearly based off Dracula and other horror stories of that time does not mean there is no story and the game is made up of a bunch of monster movie references.

All of From Softs games have a story, deep ones at that. You discover it by interacting with the NPCs and reading up on the item descriptions as well. Sekiro is the only one you don't have to try so hard to get it. From Soft doesn't just hand you anything, everything you want from a game is there but they make you earn it.

That's a bit of a cop out imo, God of War has a rich & deep story both earnt and unearnt. FromSoftware historically are obnoxious in their story telling and it borders on pretentious to suggest gamers have to 'earn' it. Like you say though, it seems they've learning as shown in Sekiro

To clarify, I agree the games have a deep story/lore etc but you'd be hard pressed to get into it without Youtube/the internet

Do people still play this? I played Dark Souls 3 and DS1R recently and people are still playing those games... a lot of people.

I would be playing it right now if my tv's picture was actually working. Need to send it out to get fixed

As far as the thread, Sony dropped the fukking ball on this. It's a Sony exclusive and they haven't even asked From to start a sequel yet. :francis:

There is several optional bosses.

Cleric Beast in Central Yharnam
Blood-Starved Beast in Old Yharnam
The Witches Of Hemwick in Hemwick Charnel Lane
Darkbeast Paarl in Hypogaen Gaol
Martyr Logarius in Cainhurst Castle
Amgydala in The Nightmare Frontier
The Celestial Emissary in Upper Cathedral Ward
Ebrietas, Daughter of the Cosmos in Altar of Despair

Also there is two bosses at the end of the regular game, depending on certain things you do or don't do. It's possible to fight one, both, or neither.

Also, from the "Old Hunters" DLC:

Ludwig, The Holy Blade
Laurence, The First Vicar
Living Failures
Lady Maria Of The Astral Clocktower
Orphan Of Kos

Not to mention a bunch of random bosses in the Chalice Dungeons.

The Chalice Dungeon Bosses are much harder than the ones in the main game. The DLC bosses are tough too though especially Orphan and the optional Fire Monster (name might be Laurence)
