Beans was the star back then. He killed every feature. His first few albums never came together for me but some great joints on there still. B Coming was his best solo IMO

No disrespect to Proof, he was great and a true MC. He just didn't have much of a solo career. That's all I was trying to say, that ppl held Bleek to a very high standard, but he was also hyped up too so it was a flawed argument on my part

Bleek would be considered an elite rapper if he came out in this era…..that’s the funny thing. He was far from being on Jay’s and Beans level but he did enough to standout in a more competitive time.

Granted he had one of the greatest rappers of all time penning his lyrics and an advantage being on a scorching hot label but Bleek was a solid rapper that made good music.

He’s like Derrick White from the Celtics. He can do all the fundamental stuff, is a great teammate and can step up in big moments when called on but he’s not the 1st, 2nd or even 3rd option.

I get it but being compared to Bleek, Spliff Star () and called hypeman/2nd fiddle status is wild. Yeah Proof did hypeman for Em for a minute, but so did/does Royce and Porter. Proof was the brains behind/leader of D12 even with Em included. He also served as a checks and balances for Em in regard to if something was dope of not, Em relied on his ear heavy because it was that good.

You already know he was good on his own as a solo artist/capable of dropping a classic record. A legendary freestyler off the top too.

A lot was lost with Dude passing.

Jayz openly talked about writing coming of age and it was originally supposed to be shyheim but he got locked up and he put bleek on it. Then he probably just wrote for bleek when they did songs together. You know Jay thought everyone though bleek was an extension of him so his shyt couldn’t be whack. I bet he wrote every song they did together. And beans was on jay’s ass probably had the better verses on once again it’s on. And jayz is my favorite.
