I've always been aware of the difference breh that never escapes me. If I weren't so aware I wouldn't have the outlook that I do. But Africans take pride in being African as a whole, even if we have our own nations. It's like living in one big ass house. On the flip side, if you describe blacks in the West the first thought is Americans but black people are all over the Western Hemisphere. This shyt can't be oversimplified. I was only identifying the reasons why the particular group I was born into acts as it does, I shyt on uncles that try to talk that Ethiopian > black shyt at every and any family function.

Yall have tribes through states and cities with a sizable black pop, yall have yall own distinctive culture, etc etc. It's just that black people themselves don't realize it. That sense of community from back in the day imo is a trait of black people's deeper Africanness whereas the individualistic culture is more a reflection of their coming up in white society. But yeah, a lot of foreign born Ethiopians have that complex. They came up during a highly nationalist period, plus on the whole Ethiopians are extremely proud of their culture. Usually the ones that are hostile or think they better than black people are overwhelmingly ignorant of their blackness and how it relates to this society. There are quite a few that are polar opposites of that personality type tho. Some can be grimy tho, even towards their own kind. Sound familiar?

I was watching a BBC report on it, Saudi forces caught one Ethiopian brotha in the Arabian desert and tied his ass up, beat the dog shyt out of him, and chopped his right arm off and left him for dead until some people found him by chance and saved him.
