Where exactly in the Caribbean? DR? I'm not from the Caribbean, but I have traveled extensively throughout the entire region, and that's not my impression at all. Even in places like Cuba, Afro-Cubans will constantly tell you that they are Africans. Openly showing you cultural practices, that in the African countries these practices originated from, many don't even practice anymore. In places like Brazil, where most the enslaved people ended up, Afro religions are always among the fastest growing religions.

Also, BAs have created many Afro related movements during the development of their ethnic group. And when it was wayyyy worse to be Afro descendant in the new world.
