the treatment of Josh Freeman as opposed to say a Jay Cutler validates this thread.
There were rumors he started having coke and pain med issues in Tampa and that's why they cut him.

Too small of a sample size to take this seriously. How many black QBs outside of Russell Wilson and Cam have played well enough not to be benched in the last few years? It has less to do with color and more to do with individual talent and the situation they're in. RG3 was always gonna get benched for instance, we understand that.

The question is not how many QBs have played well enough not be benched, but whether the average black QB (who fails) is benched earlier than the average white QB (who fails). The answer appears to be yes. This tendency could extend to struggling black QBs with starting potential too if they're benched earlier than struggling white QBs.

The study looked at NFL quarterbacks who started the first game of the NFL season for their team. Volz reasoned that because they started Week 1, they were most likely starting based on merit and not due to any injuries to other quarterbacks on the team at that point of the season.

Volz then looked at football-related factors that might have influenced the decision to bench the starting quarterbacks over the course of the season, such as age, experience, performance, the quality of the second-string quarterback, and whether the primary quarterback sustained any injuries.

In addition to that, he also looked at factors off the football field that might have had an effect, such as how many black residents live in the team’s home city to see if racial bias from fans might have made a difference in the decision.

In doing so, Volz found that black quarterbacks in areas with high black populations were still just as likely as black quarterback in predominantly white markets to be benched. His conclusion based on that is that “owners are simply responding to the desires of their customers.”

What?? So when McNabb was benched against the Ravens that wasn't some bull shyt.

It was so fukked up that Ray Lewis and Ed Reed both called out Andy Reid and the philly media and they were opposing players.

Lewis and Reed said how Andy was setting up McNabb to fail and called out how predictable the plays were.

Not to mention the Eagles trading McNabb (when he finally got some young weapons) so Kolb could start. Plus McNabb too the Eagles to the NFC Championship game and first round of the playoffs the two years before he was traded in the offseason.
I'm sure that took Mc5's heart out and he gave up on the game. Pretty sure if Andy Reid had just ran the ball more, McNabb had the body to last the season, and so did Vick. He was too far up his own ass. I mean, Mc5 was with a young Shady and I'm screaming for Reid to run it. Chip seems to have found his playbook in abandoned office.

Anyway, that's why Mc5 never got a ring, not all the other slanders the media said about him. That TO debacle though, is on HIM:umad:. Thar was the biggest fukkery I've ever seen in sports.

^That's a fukking joke. You don't know anything if you think Andy Reid benches black players. McNabb was the best thing that ever happened to him and he knew it, then took shyt from the entire country when he gave Vick his second chance. Put down the pcp, Ray Lewis is a scumbag murderer.

I wanna see this done up for all races then...

Sam Bradford is gonna get benched soon for being native american and then Mark Sanchez will get benched next season for being hispanic when we acquire our new starter (Maybe Kaep or RG3(personally no thanks)).

Give me a break, name one starting korean, chinese or japanese QB ever, now name a starting QB who's ancestors came from India.
So McNabb was he best thing that ever happened to Reid? Then why did he treat him like a $2 whore? Everyone saw the split forming in later years with them.

No one gave Vick shut. He earned his way back onto a team. That 2010 run was legendary. :ohlawd: Probably would've had a ring had he just been able to stay healthy. It's just like with everything else, cac's don't care if you've paid your unfair dues to society or were found not guilty, if you're Black and have done ANYTHING wrong, they will haunt you until you sprout a tombstone...all this while their pastors, policemen, and politicians are rapists and pedos.

McNair should be an HOFer but will never make it in posthumously now....media would eat that story alive.
Why? Because he cheated on his wife and was killed by the mistress :dahell:? Okay, how is the latter his fault, and what does that little ding of his character have to do with his achievements on the field. He's still honored no matter what. Titans did him foul when they got the New Nikka, when I thought it would be very beneficial for Vince to sit a year behind the Black GOAT QB (for now, as Cam probably will be and Warren Moon is in running). But at the time, having 2 Black star QB'S on the roster was unheard of and Jeff Fisher always seemed :mjpls: to me (had a coach assistant who looked just like him in middle school that would let n-word fly). But how McNair carried the Titans, I was still shocked of that disrespect and hoped the Ravens gave him that revenge and ring.

It was just too complicated an offense to learn 1st season, he had to face Peyton at his best, and he was falling off. But give the man his props. If girl wanted to pull martyrdom after a nut, that's on her not him.

they aren't getting drafted because There aren't that many or they aren't very good. Lets look at the entire crop of skill sets of the qbs in question: All these QBs played in non prototypical offensives: mike Vick, great athlete in his prime.
Geno Smith: spread offense
Tavaris Jackson: spread offense
RG3: Spread offense
Dennis Dixon: Spread offense
Cam: spread offense
Josh Freeman: spread
Kaep: spread
The league looks for pro qbs because the spread is easy to cover when everyone is just as fast as you and can cover your first read. That is why so many spread QBs are failing now. Kaep doesn't fit tomsulas offensive strategy.

Which qbs that are black getting benched? The only one I know is RG3 and the remains don't want to pay the injury clause if he gets hurt.
Again unless the NFL switches to entirely spread concepts like most of college and high school the issues will persist.

Breh, this is not a comprehensive list of all QBs from the 2000s onward so it's not inclusive enough to account for all the data in the study. Also, cac QBs often play in the spread too and rarely know how to read a defense.

I can't validate the claims made in this article at all, so I'm going to go by the sight and perception test. I do find that the media are harder on the mistakes of Black QB's, who are usually rushed in after being drafted and rarely able to sit a year and learn like a lot of White QB's.

The code words for the negative Black QB's are so ingrained, that they are standardized under the category "mobile quarterbacks" which is just an euphemism for Black QB, and seem to be applied to all before they're able to shake off the tags. The tag, however, cripples QB's whose natural ability made them successful, because they want to earn the prestige of the pocket passer, or White QB, instead of letting the game come to them.

Cam Newton is the QB that seems undaunted by this label and just plays to win now. He seems to be enjoying himself and feeling good at how many advantages he actually has when he maximizes both when he feels the situation calls. Notice I said HE FEELS. He's a natural leader and strong person.

Weaker people piss away their chances (however short they are) by trying to erase the stigma prematurely. The Black QB has the biggest burden and target on their backs. They need to start being able to ignore that, and be themselves, all the time. Forget the instant endorsements and becoming instant role models and standard bearers for a whole race, and just play and learn. Stay off BET until your second good season, and carry your own weight and learn the game.
