I was praised by black peers and family for being a high achiever in school.

I remember being at my homie crib getting drunk/high playing cards video games way back and it’s 8-10 dudes over there
nikkas started their cook county jail stories about fighting co’s and other gangs etc and takin food and sneaking contraband in.I was silent(cuz I’ve never been to jail) and them nikkas were like you never been locked up?tryin to glorify being incarcerated
Lol @ bragging about that shyt
The majority of blacc ppl thinc Wacc100 and Maino are clowns tho…And people think that you are "soft" for never engaging in that lifestyle.
Im talking about the Wack 100/ Maino type dudes who still think it's 1993 and you had to earn stripes through irrational struggle.
The majority of blacc ppl thinc Wacc100 and Maino are clowns tho…
Which proves the point of the thread
yes but thats only because "sounding educated" is the same as "sounding white" to dumb people.

The majority of Gen X think Wack100 is a clownTheir Generation, which is Gen X, that was normal way of thinking a few decades ago. A lot of them never grew out of that era and are traumatized of those events, similar to Vietnam War Veterans.
The clothes and the "talking white" shyt is true, that definitely happenswhy are you going to extremes breh, this is a discussion lol
anyway to answer your question, in high school I saw plenty of Black kids not apply themselves academically to fit in. On God.
I also saw too many Black people get roasted for their clothes going all the way back to elementary school, even though not everyone can afford to wear daily name brands
I've seen Black males and females my whole life get told they "talk white" simply for being articulate
so there u go breh
I’m in New Orleans bro. I’m telling you how it was in the 90s early 2000s. Again it’s not like that no more.
You had to play dumb. Girls as early at 6-7 grade wanted nikkaz wit money and if you was to smart.
“Look at this lame ass nikka, always the first one turning in his homework” ect.
I didn’t get clown or didn’t clown people. I was doing lil shyt in the streets so I had a lil money and my parents brought be nice clothes,
But yea I knew plenty of dudes who would dumb them selves down in order not to get clowned and shyt on
They figure they would be accepted and like more by those around them. Worrying about what others (on a lesser level) may think of them. Cheating themselves to make others feel more comfortable. Truth is, they STILL won't like you regardless. In New Orleans people did when we grew up. Dudes would act dumber to fit in.
A lot of women like to be enlightened.I agree with this, I went to school in the inner city for at least half of my grade school years and I do feel that this is largely a myth.
I was always praised for being smart and on the straight and narrow. If anything I feel like it attracted the hood chicks cuz it was refreshing to them that I wasn't on that time most nikkas was on. Even to this day when I go back to the area these females be eyeing like crazy, I never struggled attracting hood chicks as a smart, square dude.
Most black kids regardless of background had the mutual understanding that we didn't wanna bring no bad report cards home because we had parents that would embarrass us and come to the school and whoop our ass. But maybe it's just meThis is definitely one of the biggest lies I’ve ever heard. Socially awkward dweebs get teased across every ethnic group but smart people that get good grades are usually among the most popular people. My boy is a pharmacist, always got good grades, didn’t get into trouble, and he was the HC King.
I was a hell raiser that got horrible grades in the 9th and 10th grade and people avoided me. That was the case for most of the guys that I ran with at that time too. When I got my act together, the chicks start gravitating towards me, I made more friends, and the coaches encouraged me to play sports.
None of what you named is for being smartYes they do, especially towards black men. If you don’t fit a certain image within the community than people will mock you, called you lame and treat you like an outcast.
Black men in particular get clowned all the time (usually by other black men ironically) for being short, nerdy, introverted, polite, religious, not being promiscuous and etc. I’ve seen it happen many times during and even after high school. What in the world makes anyone think being educated and clean will be an exception?
I’ve seen dudes being mocked and clowned for being smart.None of what you named is for being smart
