Are the actors and behind the scenes people getting any of this extra money they (whytes) didn't think the movie would make?

Blaxploitation saved the movie industry in the seventies yet they still peddle the lie that black movies dont sell.

I will see in five years if the major studios are still putting big money into black movies or return to the usual bullshyt that they were always on.

Truth as well and I was about to mention how black folks saved hollywood. Follks have to always remember history repeats itself and goal posts get moved.

Also black tv shows in the 70s and 80s (cosby show NBC)..saved the major networks (plus start up networks in the 90s and 2000s). These major networks basically dont even have black tv shows today (a show with a leading black person and a bunch of non-black folks is not a black show...cough cough scandal and the rest).

Huge win for black producers, directors, writers, creators, actors, and actresses [especially dark skinned ones].

And a big treat for lil black and brown girls and boys who don't have to resort to cac superheroes, cac kings or cac princesses for escapism.

Black Panther toys and merch is projected to do 250 mill this year, and there are a lot of complains that store owners understocked toys.

Also a big win for Tyler Perry, whose new huge Atlanta studio was the spot Marvel/Disney paid for access to shoot the movie in.

Next step is to own these distribution companies and also get more seats in the shareholder spots for corporations like Disney and WB. But this was a fantastic step on multiple levels.

This is a great win for black people. Money wise and symbolic wise. It should be no negative talk whatsoever. Anybody with something even semi negative to say is either:
1. A white salty inferior racist
2.A c00n
3.A hater

I think black Hollywood should now team up, pull their money and resources together, create a company like Warner Bros(etc. Black Vision Films) start a monopoly on the movie industry, and start creating, funding, distributing nothing but strong black empowering films, cartoons, documentaries, comedy's, etc...

Then when they become the most successful, and the biggest, and bring in trillions in profit start black banks, schools, community centers, and communities for poor and struggling black people who need jobs and help.

I think this could be done this year and take over the entire Hollywood and empower black people like never before

If white people are prepared to blow up the globe in order to maintain that faith of their fathers which placed Sambo in chains, then they are certainly willing to allow him his turn on television, stage, and screen. It is a small price for white people to pay for the continuance of their domination.”- James Baldwin

My exact thoughts. There's been plenty of great black films, but we've never had a Star Wars, a Dark Knight, or even a Transformers. We now have a huge black superhero film that's locked in a billion and secured a trilogy. Hollywood execs speak money. We tell them that we will go watch tf out of films with black directors and nearly all black casts, we get more of these films. Now we have more black directors getting jobs and recognition, and more black actors getting roles.

We all get a little something from this success. Hopefully, we get ourselves to a point where we have black owned movie studios competing with Warner Bros or Sony. Take these small victories now and keep building off of them to make black Hollywood a real and independent force.
Tyler Perry could've been that guy if he hadn't spent so much time making Madea shyt, and by the time he decided to switch it up it was too late.
Need to make sure we support other "good" projects like this one. Don't give us no shytty fukkf and expect the same love
We also need some of these A list black actors/actresses to show unity and work on projects together.

If they want to keep this momentum, make black movies like this. I don’t want to watch another low budget biopic, slave movie, white saviour movie etc.

Keep making shyt people want and they’ll come.

We gotta chill on the no low budget talk:whoa:

Low budget and high profit is the recipe,Straight Outta Compton only had a budget of about 40 million but made 200 million. 40 million would be easy for Hollywood and the black community at large to collectively raise if we wanted to. Positive word of mouth is all we really need to have big successes at the box office. We don't want alot of big budget films for the sake of being big budget, that don't make profit, are of wack quality and story.

Somebody said Tyler Perry studio in ATL was the one that Disney used. Tyler Perry should have stayed in his lane, and do what he does. Other black creatives have to step to the forefront and do what Tyler did and guys like Spike Lee did, hopefully more are inspired now to do so. People unfairly bashed Tyler Perry because there was nothing else by us making it into theatres, making the kind of money, and getting the kind of attention his shyt was while he was hot. Im just glad he got his money while he could, rather it go to guy who cares about ownership and will put on other black people. Than somebody who is just going to go off,buy a bunch of mansions and keep working for rich white people indefinitely while putting nobody else on,or mentoring other black people.

They go back when the know it’s safe to go back. These studios get the money up and then start movie cacin again. Seems like they like to do this every 20 years since they did it in the 70’s and even the 90’s studios were investing in black movies. But black people are tuning into the formula now so who knows it might stay like this for awhile.

Black folks BEEN great..... black folks BEEN generating billions

black folks attract eyes and ears from all over the world.... the culture.... the fashion... billions of records sold with music.... the popularity of our athletes around the world.... billions generated from sports....

this is just another example of our greatness.... but we BEEN great.... Cacs BEEN knew we were great.... thats why they been monetizing us since forever.

I'm ready to see us own and control and monetize our own image at this point.... now THAT would make me the happiest person ever.... to see black folks in REAL positions of power...... generating REAL money for OUR community and EMPOWERING each other....... cacs already know how great we are... thats old news.... thats why they sign us and employ us at every opportunity....I want to see us recognize our own greatness instead of waiting on validation and funding from others.

To us, this is groundbreaking.

To cacs, this is just another flip..... another power move. They already know how profitable we are.

Ownership is number one. Any black person not about that at this point is a loss cause
