Damn, they tried to do the same thing in TN to TSU. They wanted them to increase their white enrollment to some crazy percentage. White kids in TN who could chew gum and graduate high school were being given minority scholarships to TSU. No joke, I personally know two people who got the scholarship and I believe the requirement was a 19 ACT and either a 2.5 or 2.75 GPA 
. TSU took their case to court and won though.

My brother graduated from there in the early 2000's and I had 2 cousins that graduated in the 90's. It was a lot of black students there back then.

Black student numbers reduced because Admissions standards changed, tuition increased, scholarship earning students were heavily recruited out of Houston area to go to UT/A&M or out of state. It still has a very good size black population for being the third largest school in Texas (three times that of a UT or A&M), and the campus is still nice to walk through cause it's almost an even split of the other races. But yeah, enrollment and retention reduced by almost a third for black kids compared to early and mid 2000s.
But because it is Houston, you know the community got in The President's ass about it, so they are focusing hard on getting the numbers back up and raising more funding for better scholar packages.

Are they? I haven't been there in a few years. I did hear that the nursing program has a really large white student population now, but a majority of them commute. That's just going off stuff I've heard from people who still live in TN though, so it may not be true.

SEC schools is for c00ns, unless you are there for graduate program black folks don't need to be there. Yea I said it, eff UGA, Bama, and all them other programs. Stupid black kids go there on some "I wanna be around diversity" get there and only hang with other blacks. UGA has a Black Homecoming and a Black Graduation ceremony.
