Houston
My little brother was recruited to play football in Ole Miss (during that year that led to the Houston Nutt rule). He had a terrible time there, and once they found an irregularity with his heart, they refused to treat him and dropped him instead.

Driving to Mississippi to watch games meant a lot if head shakes and glares from white folks at stop lights. Lots of Sun down towns, way different than Texas and very creepy. I did not see these beautiful Mississippi women being talked about, but then again, I'm spoiled by Houston.

:sadcam: I didn't realize the Black population is so low at UT & in Austin.

Please tell me Austin has own version of Duncanville, Cedar Hill, DeSoto, and Lancaster, black suburbs where most of the blacks live.
Austin is "liberal" and "progressive" for white folks who want vegan options, live music and more exposure to tex mex for happy hour. The town has a very high rate of documented (and protested)black flight and black property loss. It used to have a black suburb but the population has been pushed out.

UT gets it's MLK statue defaced and egged every year and the school song was originally performed in Blackface for minstrel shows. Their African American studies program is excellent, but they don't get the funding to recruit talented black grads as much anymore.

Someone mentioned UH (Houston) as a good option for large schools with large black populations and I just wanted to point out that the black population has been dramatically reduced in the last two years and the new freshmen class has one of the lowest numbers for black kids in recent history.

All my fam, both sides, is from Greenville/Leland. Its straight black out there. Thick ass females:noah:

edit: it is boring out there. What Greenville could really use imo is a dope ass sports bar & grille. Hell even a TGIFridays or Applebees would work out there. They got this one bar inside the mall next to the Belk department store but its mediocre :mjcry:
Hold up, who are your folks?

Tunica ain't bad if you wanna gamble, get drunk for the low and still go up to memphis. Got a gang of spots to lose money at around here. The casinos here in Greenville have decimated this town. That is why I side eye folks who go extra hard during election season to get black folks to vote yes on gambling initiatives. None of that $$$ ever gets kicked back to black folks. I've seen what's it's done to my birthplace

I fukking hate BYU more than any other college . It's amazing how different a lot of my white h.s. classmates became towards me and other blacks after going there. Like they got some Hitler style brainwash . I cut off several of them after the Kanye / Taylor Swift incident alone. Become Mormon brehs.

I :piss: on their honor code

Only school I've went to watch a game and feared for my life afterwards. Hauled ass to SLC immediately afterwards

I trust you, but we'll see. Maybe I was colored by the Cowboys out in Colleyville lol

Colleyville? Man ain't that many black folks out there. Go to grand prairie, oak cliff and fort worth. There a whole bunch of black couples out there. Like I said Dallas ain't Detroit, Houston, Atlanta, Memphis or even Jackson. We as black people are spread out amongst the city and it just looks like that. But once there is a black event you will see us and black couples in the dozens.

Damn, what's going on at U of H?

My brother graduated from there in the early 2000's and I had 2 cousins that graduated in the 90's. It was a lot of black students there back then.

The legendary stories they used to tell me about the Kappa Beach Party. :ohlawd:

My brother used to have classes with that Lyric model chick. :steviej:

I hope they're from out of state somewhere. My fam is from MS and I remember visiting them when I was like 12 or 13 and we went to a mall in Jackson. I was trying on an Ole Miss sweatshirt in Foot Locker and my pops flipped out. He was like, "Take that bullshyt off!", and was asking my moms why in the hell she let me even try it on. He's usually pretty serious and angry, but it went to another level that day. Both my parents are products of segregated schools and an HBCU in MS, and on the way back out to the country, they explained the the history of black folks at Ole Miss. I've hated Ole Miss ever since.

Went to college in Mississippi and wife plus in-laws are from missippi. Black folks there hate and I mean hate Ole Miss. They can some what tolerate Miss State. But most jokers root against ole miss. Also the poor treatment of blacks at those schools are the reason most black who are fans of white schools are fans of schools outside of the state.

Another thing the black folks there are very prideful of the HBCUs there and it is a beautiful thing.
True, most of my fam hates Ole Miss with a passion, but don't really reserve the same hate for State or USM. What kills me though is that quite a few of my cousins are Bama fans :what:. That shyt doesn't make any sense to me either, because it's like they hate Ole Miss because of it's history, but then go and give Bama a pass. They are prideful as hell of their HBCU's though. Majority of my family that went to college are Valley grads and they rep it to the fullest. It wasn't until my generation that we started going to majority white schools. Most of my young cousins in their teens and early 20's go to USM, State, and a handful go to JSU or out of state.

I got family from Mississippi. Not the biggest cities either. I'm talkin bout dirt road, heavily wooded area, one gas station type of towns in Mississippi where it's very easy for a breh to get "lost" as they say :usure:. I talk to them every now and then and they STILL have stories of brehs coming up missing or being harassed for dating white women and other small things.

Every time I enter Mississippi all i think avout is slavery and how many black folks were killed and/or lynched on the trees I'm passing. I get this weird, creepy vibe that I just don't belong there. I don't see how these dudes can play for that state. Hell, any SEC/ACC school really.

Imagine all those top recruits playing for HBCUs:blessed:....then again, a lot of those are funded/created by racist whites anyway. We have nowhere to go brehs:mjcry:
I always thought the same thing, what would happen if we actually put money into HBCUs and started getting recruits to go to them. Like you said though, a lot of those schools are state schools and subject to the state govt's wishes. I know they've been talking about getting rid of some of the HBCUs in MS for years now, by combining them with PWI schools. For example, I think they were talking about combining Valley and Delta State, and turning Valley into a campus of Delta State. If I had a lot of money, I'd prop up private HBCUs like Howard, Morehouse, Tuskegee, etc. and make them more compatible in both sports and academics.

Wow...I had no idea they are trying to do that in MS now. I was a really young kid back in the early 90s and I used to always see black folks repping HBCUs everywhere I went. I wonder what happened to that?

When I go back, it seems like all the older fam (30 plus) still rep the HBCUs, mostly Valley and JSU in my fam; but it seems like a lot of the young kids don't rep the HBCUs as hard.
