Yep big boss that is how it is there. I still tell folks it is a great place to live because the black folks are down to earth and support each other. Plus it is a good place to raise kids and they can have a black experience. The bad part is there are not a lot of jobs. But homes and taxes are cheap and that is why black folks who have left come back to retire.

It is nothing to get a home on 20 acres for 120k. Or buy 80 acres for 100k and build you a house on it. With your taxes being under 900 dollars a year.

You are thinking of Sylvester Croom. Ole miss has never had a black football coach. The thing is Southern Miss is considered the little cousin of Miss St and Ole Miss. But southern miss has always had a better standing with black students when compared to the others white schools in Mississippi. Now that isn't saying they haven't ha issues to involving race.

I see that southern miss is 31% black:ohhh:

:ohhh:i didn't even know that and it is my alma mater thanks for the info.

But the state of Mississippi is 37% black so no surprise and even though the state gets a bad rap for education. Many young folks go to college or juco (even if they don't graduate).

In a perfect world, if the world would fix the narcissism in our country and everywhere after that.
I could see doing that.
After there was a dramatic global change in every possible way.
Yet given the situation and lack of change and instituted narcissism.
I see why these students are going to endure vitriol for their lack of awareness.

You can't be black and not know and do what they did.

I hope they're from out of state somewhere. My fam is from MS and I remember visiting them when I was like 12 or 13 and we went to a mall in Jackson. I was trying on an Ole Miss sweatshirt in Foot Locker and my pops flipped out. He was like, "Take that bullshyt off!", and was asking my moms why in the hell she let me even try it on. He's usually pretty serious and angry, but it went to another level that day. Both my parents are products of segregated schools and an HBCU in MS, and on the way back out to the country, they explained the the history of black folks at Ole Miss. I've hated Ole Miss ever since.

Great parenting ....

Salute to your parents.

Quiet as kept there are quite a bit of pwis with large black enrollment rates (or at least reflective of population) but many/most times we don't support these schools because espn isn't on their dikk all of the time. Being an alum is one thing but it's hard to take people seriously when they complain about black issues and then turn around and be a t shirt fan for schools like Texas, uga, usc, etc.

I'm not at all a fan of black folks going around with the confederate flag painted on them but at least ole miss is actually educating African Americans. Anyone in this thread shytting on these kids better not be fans of schools with 3%, 4%, 5% black enrollment percentages. People can bring up the racist history of ole miss all they want (and really we should) but how about we have an honest conversation about how a lot of these "powerhouse" programs have a racist past as well as a racist present.

I can make pretty much the same argument in the hbcu thread. Kids aren't going to start playing for hbcu's until we give them a reason to, but we're unwilling to support schools below a certain "status".
