It didn't do that well from what I read. Buzz just couldn't translate over Pixar and dinosaurs.
Of course! And i go to Madamenoire and they complained because it had lightskinned women in the movie... I replied that i saw it and didnt even pay attention to the lack of brown skinned women. I was watching the movie for the movie (and the soundtrack :blessed:) and didnt care about the skin tone of the characters.

But there are avenues to us now that Townsend didn't have. I just named a handful of black producers with their own companies. Why don't they pick up the films? I'm not knocking cube for it but just using him as an example: as opposed to having cubevision produce barbershop 3 why not produce a movie with some new talent or just talent on the fringe? That's how Dope got its wide release; puffy and pharell and I'm sure someone else who's name I'm forgetting, hopped on and decided to contribute money to the cause

Well thats what needs to be done, go to multiple people who will take the chance and fund it. By the way, what was Dope's numbers over the weekend? Did it do good?

:yeshrug: "Dope" has been getting critical acclaim since it debuted at Sundance back in January. It's directed & written by a dude who has familiar filmography. Add that to just watching the trailers, it's easy to see why the movie was able to get notable black names on-board like Puffy & Pharell to co-produce the film.

Ain't nobody finna come :cape: for bad black movies like "Chocolate City" and "Addicted". :mjlol: I always assumed "Chocolate City" was just a black parody film of "Magic Mike".

Whomever, played themselves by releasing Addicted anywhere near the same time frame (hell, outside of 2004 to be real) as Fifty Shades of Grey. Would have been like releasing _______(insert vampire film) against the Twilight movies.
