They were confused. How can you have a connection in one part of your life but not another.
I'm talking to you on the net but we'd pass each other in real life and never speak. Or how we act in real life isn't how we act we behind avatars.

I might could buy that if it built up to the fukking over time....but they went straight to the fukking in the second game (when the 1st game ended abruptly after an unplanned kiss). If it were strictly about an emotional bond, they'd be sharing deep convos about what's going on in their lives after a fight and shyt. Then it may lead to sex (tho seems farfetched to me that that jump would ever happen).
The emotional bond was important, indeed, hence the cuddling afterwards and the fact that it wasn't the same with other avatars. But the sexuality was absolutely key; it's what lead to that strengthened emotional bond even after a decade of distance.

I'm not saying the ep couldn't have been written differently. It could, but I'm saying I think I understood the point.
Ask yourself, why did neither dude ask their girlfriend/wife to play the game and then bang? Dude tried banging a polar bear(or panda I can't remember )instead of his young girlfriend in this game? Cause he was with her but didn't have a connection with her.
Even before they started playing the game they didn't talk. That's what I'm saying. They weren't the same men they used to be and hadn't made the attempt to keep up. Their connection was based on feeling of what they used to be. What we saw briefly in the beginning.
If they had kept up with each other, he'd be like his wife. A person who had changed into someone else.
The fact that they were distant is the point. They were both leading different lives. One is banging a hot young chick(who doesn't know who Rodman is so jokes go over her head) and the other is in the suburbs with the picket fence. At no point despite being friends was there an attempt to become close physically except on his birthday.
Cause it's about who they used to be. Young dudes in good physical condition in the club playing games.

Ok what the fukk happened in the end of Smithereens? 
Finally finished Smithereens and definitely picked up once the Smithereen company got involved, and the ending was great.

Don't know why people say this. The best over all season was actually the one after the Netflix acquisition.
I haven't watched the new 3 eps yet but cats act like this shyt was GOAT level prior to Netflix. I'm a big fan of the series but there have been duds since day 1.

I was with my girl, so, in the beggining of the first episode, when them nikkas were playing the Tekken looking game in a normal joystick and all. I was saying "wow I used to play tournments on Tekken 3 with my friends back in the day and blabla".
When the episode started to get into :damedash: vibe I was like "damn nevermind the comparision. those nikka's gay".
And anyway. How the fck the episode goes from forced suspect not in harlem shyt, to a CUCK ENDING.
I give a L to the screewrites, actors, everyone involved including me and my girl just for watching such bullshyt
