Folk have to study a more practical art...

karate is good for basic strikes (teaches you how to throw kicks properly) and strike with distance(Stephen Wonderboy, Robert Whittaker, Lyoto), but in terms of self defense Brazilian Ju Jitsu(combined with wrestling and Judo), , Boxing and Muay Thai are better. The goat self defense and conglomerate mma style base is sambo though. Only thing sucks about Sambo is that they aren't many schools that teach it.
