Mentorship should start at the family unit. If you take care of your children, they won’t need a mentor. Or I should say, you can help guide your child down the path they want to journey through. Mentors are needed through all stages of life and careers.

After you take care of your children, you have your nieces, nephews, younger cousins that you can have an affect throughout their lives.

Why don't talk understand that community starts with family and spreads OUTWARD.

Look at any stable community and you'll see the nuclear family, then the extended family, outward from that is the immediate community then the overall community.

When stability starts at home it's easier to spread it outward. Y'all have these men and women creating MORE broken homes than compkete homes then wanting men who haven't even created theirs yet to start life at a handicap taking on other folks problems.

Go back to shaming bums and whores and prop up family structure and there will be little need for "mentors"

I’m not even going to lie, I’m low key tired of dysfunctional people. There is a segment of the community who have all the smoke for their own but have NOTHING for the people invading and raising the COL. I get it, it’s a matter of “access” that keep blacks hateful and destructive of their own people and communities but I can’t help to acknowledge that men like myself, my brother, brothers I’ve interacted with in the non profit world, education really want the best for the community, sacrifice time, opportunities, whatever to help push the community forward. It’s never going to be enough….

Are any of you older brehs on mentoring younger guys?

I was a mentor for a few boys. Fathers were absent, deceased or incarcerated. Glad I got them when they were in single digits than when they were teens. My last one I got paired with when he was 12 which gave me pause but turned out well. He graduates from high school this year and is a great student and all around leader.
