But to not troll @KOOL-AID I'll say this
I had a relaxer up until my sophomore year of college. I wasn't really aware of the whole natural vs. Relaxed thing and never looked at an afro with disgust. For me the afro was outdated, something people did in the 70s. Plus my main concern has always been (and always will be) long hair. I just love long, thick, voluptuous hair
When I finally decided to go natural, it was simply because I wanted to see my natural hair texture and what it looked like. It wasn't some "journey" or a means to attract any type of men or even for pro blackness. It was simply curiosity. When I did the big chop it was weird because like I said before I love long hair so I did wear wigs for a while. Then I dyed my TWA and it looked so I kept cutting it short. Now I'm growing it out trying to reduce my shrinkage and in the mean time wearing natural hair extensions. I love my hair texture, the versatility, everything but then length for now.
All I'm saying is, black women will go natural when they feel comfortable, nothing anyone does will steer them toward it
