looking at the stats, most of the fathers arent around. this is where the BW will pretend she was marriage minded, wanted a nice nuclear family, picked a stable guy, and he went out for milk and never returned. to that, i just direct you to this documentary:

all you've gotta do is watch the first 2 minutes to understand what the women were REALLY on, and not just what yall portray.

also, are you suggesting your hairstyles should be regulated by the men? because i agree, but most women will disagree.

Not gonna address your point because unfortunately that is a sad reality, and personally I believe in the male leading the household (while still holding onto the idea of advancement of women, both are possible imo) which segues into my next point that yes black men should regulate hairstyles and push for actual representation. Idk if that would happen. But if it's black women who are perpetuating mixed/biracial curly hair as the face of natural hair then let y'all do it and take the reigns.

black men being against weave is just one of those internet things.

you'd be hard pressed to find black men that like weave -- they stink, they're dirty, and it looks clownish.

what black men dont like is short, damaged or patchy hair, which is usually what we're left with when they take out the weave.

okay, fair enough. now do black women determine whats attractive in black men :mjpls:

In some ways yes. But with black men, being that they are men, them determining what's attractive in black women comes from the fact that they are men.

Women style themselves to impress other women.

And my hair nappy :mjpls:

You got loose curls nikka. :what:

well, i stand by my point. a lot of girls are headed in this situation before they're even attracted to the opposite sex. its something the mother does out of convenience and self hate.

but i'll concede that its still up to the men to fix this situation. i just dont see how its possible when BW are independently raising the majority, and the boys will grow up seeing mommy with fake hair. y'all naturalize the concept to us at a young age, then blame us for it as adults; its sinister.

Up to the parents...it starts during childhood so by the time they..we are adults,we're programmed to not like the way our hair looks.

It's not just the black women..

Brehs how many of your parents would've let you go to an important function with your hair "nappy". I pretty much wasn't allowed to grow my hair out as a kid and teen because my mom and pop said my hair was too nappy.

Compare to the 70s where some of the brehs had some fros with no edge-ups but went about life like nothing was wrong. :wow:

I'm seeing slow change though...seeing more chicks rocking they natural hair out regardless of how short it is,and all I see is brothas out here with fros, high tops, them J.Cole fros, freeform dreads, dreads and shyt. I goto the barbershop most of the dudes in there just growing they hair out and just getting line-ups...atleast the men around my age..(24)

More like that's what you're doing. You act like it ain't fathers around who could tell the mother of their children to stop doing that shyt. Ain't the man supposed to be the leader? You act like nikkas is helpless and can't say shyt. Yeah, it's a beauty standard, and yes black women perpetuate it, but since men are supposedly "leaders" of the household, why don't they lead and demand that shyt not be put on they daughters heads?

Well obviously because there is a lack of fathers in black households..

Though of course it takes two to tango...just as much the women fault for getting knocked up by these dudes who just running game and just looking to fukk and get in situationships.

It's a revolving cycle,though I won't act like this is just a black problem..because it's not...parenting is such shyt nowadays all around...

you'd be harder pressed to find these champions of natural hair IRL. Like i said, its an internet phenomenon. Front all you want.

All black women I've met and talked to with natural hair have confidence

There are many confident women with weave too.

well, i dont research to know soon as you snatch off that weave; all that fake confidence flies out the window. :mjpls:

I feel like it won't have a tremendous effect. :ehh: Wore my natural hair for most of my life,I didn't wear weave until I got to college.& Now that I'm in the weave world,I don't see myself going back.

wearing the god given hair that comes out of your head is a journey :bryan: do you see how insane yall sound

Based on the politics that come with natural hair in this country, yes I consider it a journey,

It was a question. "U buggin" with this wack ass thread.
naw I simply askd a question and was lookin for responses, unfortunately like most threads involving a gender it turned into a vs thing. If the thread is wack why even post in it, why not ignore it or come in and one star it then leave?

Locs is the most practical hair for kinky haired women in this society unless you are joining the military. :pacspit: to their racist standards for hair.

Most African tribes left their hair in one style until marriage or adulthood except for special occasions. Hairstyles held purpose aand told about your status and identity. All this versatile styling is just people trying to keep up with white folks and celebrities. Its vain, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. If you can do it, do you. But when you frequently change up your hairstyle, you sacrifice length and risk breakage.
