If don't know if it makes it feel any better, but many slave families changed the spelling or pronunciation of their given last names. Bunberry was the CAC slaveowner's last name who started my family's lineage. It was changed to Bumbrey through the years.

I do for it signifies the trials my ancestors have been through. I don't want to erase my family's history. Let them say my house began as lowly as any other and we rose in spite of it. :wow:

I don't associate my name with any slaveowner - but rather the slaves.
