He was never going anyone happy w/ his path in life if he just stayed in California not singing mexican music. He found a path to do it, yes, he did it for his survival as an artist to express himself the way he wanted to express himself. That means he wanted to be adored by Mexican audience that just so happened to be women. Where is the harm in this that he wants to live life like this? If a white person came up to me saying that their heart was in Nigeria and they were trying to do everything to become a Nigerian, I would say that they were appropriating my culture. I'm conflicted. I wanna say yes because it is.

It's an interesting question. He seems sincere in his love of the genre and culture. Does not seem to be condescending in any way as far as I can tell.
I think he could help Mexicans revisit their own attitudes towards people of African heritage since it had an active slave trade and history with black folks that was expunged through intermarriage and willfull ignorance.

Hitler? Let's not go to godwin's law. He wanted to entertain mexican women and he couldn't do it in Compton. He made the tough choice of relocating and he learned the language.
