To throw a little spin into this; I actually believe in traditional gender roles where men play a leadership role in the family.

That doesn't excuse the systematic and negligent abuse of black women by society. Black women are more likely to be raped than any other group. Add to that they are the poorest group. Black men are men and avoid those pitfalls. The same way white women avoid police harassment. Privilege.

Women are far more likely to be victims of spousal abuse.
Women are much more likely to be raped.
For every dollar a man makes, a woman makes 70 cents roughly.

etc etc. It doesn't just magically stop when you're black :laff:

It gets WORSE.

Black women = bravest group of Americans

- spousal abuse isn't a privilege, and more women initiate spousal abuse than men.

- rape isn't a privilege, it's a crime.

- women deserve equal pay for equal work. by that same token, men should not be expected to provide for women -- they can't have both

traditional gender roles = men made the lion share and provided for the women.

if you're for equal pay, traditional gender role must crease to exist.

and black men do not avoid those pitfalls, those stats dont include black men that are out of the game entirely -- like men no longer looking for work such as the homeless, or black men in the prison system.

Women initiate spousal abuse? ...
Okay
...

:whoa:

Anyway, aside from that disturbing post... Why should equal pay for equal work come with strings attached? One is a legal right not being met "equal pay" the other is your own societal norms.

Women still to this day get paid less to do the same exact job.

Black men have a less chance of getting hired with a degree than a white man without.

Not similar though

Good thing the lower unemployment rate and significantly higher use of welfare makes up and exceeds any gap

Black males get male privilege friend :manny:

It may be a byproduct of White Supremacy, but that doesn't mean it's not true. Women have to deal with double standards and unfounded prejudices against them, and being black exacerbates this, making Black Women very underprivileged. Black Men are victims of discrimination and bias against them due to their being Black, but they do not receive any additional discrimination due to their sex and gender if they are hetero.

Facts only.
Economically, I see nothing but black females ahead of black males in our generation fam. not sure where this is coming from.

When the shoe is on the other foot though and BW are being criticized it's "out of love for our Black queens" or some such nonsense. A lot of the posters on this board need to look in the mirror.

A- A A+
A recent Nielsen report shows that African American women are the drivers of many household purchasing decisions. The report, entitled “Powerful. Growing. Influential. The African American Consumer, “ took a closer look at the opinions and buying habits of female African American consumers.

Among the key takeaways is the fact that many African American women are greatly influenced by their culture and community. Roughly 62% of black women believe embracing and supporting their culture is important. Furthermore, about 59% feel a strong obligation to support minority businesses.

“Black women are one of the most powerful consumers because they are three times as likely to be the head of household than any other minority culture,” saysTarra Jackson (also known as Madam Money), a money expert who specializes in economic empowerment. “Marketers should pay attention to African American women because they control over 50% of the annual adult black purchasing and spending power,” Jackson continues.

Other key survey findings:

• 80% of black women agree that being aware of purchasing decisions is important.
• 63% are more likely to purchase a luxury vehicle than the general market.
• Black women are twice as likely to shop at Neiman Marcus than the general public.
• Close to 40% of black women consider themselves to be trendsetters.
