I called Junior not going to school in this thread 3 months ago... without Kenya its hurting because this was his story, his family.. Don't know if the new show runner has family/experiences in the same dynamic as the show. i do look forward to the new stories for next season.

of course as the kids get older they're no longer "cute" but Devante is a waste to me right now. I mean even on full house Michelle did something.. this kid just sits there .. and by damn it... his hair makes him stand out and he just doesn't fit in with the family. I was upset they made Jr the "nanny" they gave him a girl only for him to break up with her over his brother .. not even his kid...

surprised they held the young bow episode for next season. I have mixed feelings about mixed-ish but i'll watch it and see.
devantes hair angers me :heh:, i know it's a black woman on set who handles styling it, black women love "laying down" some hair :dead:

I don't think you really need to have experiences to pull from to realize that Junior taking a gap year, and now just saying "fukk school" altogether doesn't fit the character. I will say that I do appreciate the nepotism angle with him getting a job and the inside track via his dad.

I'm telling you Devante is gonna be Jack in Season 1 status next year :heh:

I have similar feelings about Mixed-ish. But I had the same feelings about Black-ish the beginning and they knocked it out of the park. I like Grown-ish too, so it will be interesting to see if they can pull of the trifecta. Outside Happy Days and All in the Family, how many shows have pulled of multiple quality spin offs?

mixed-ish isn't really a spin-off .. its a flashback show.. the last real comedy spin off was a different world ??? think it was family matters.
I watch grown-ish too ..

Devante gonna be like; I think family matters or boy meets world where a child just disappears.. I cant stand him... LOL... they didn't need the 5th child. jr could've did stuff besides play nanny.. they should've kept him with the white girlfriend then have him meet his new/ex girl while with her.. make him conflicted. then grandma could be conflicted cause she's from her church (she already said no) but she's black (so she's like yeah)

Did not expect Ray from Legends of Tomorrow to show up in that past episode :leon:

Mixed-ish trailer. The girl who plays Bow's sister is funny in the trailer, but I'm not sure I will watch.

Glad they picked a darker black woman for the role of Bow's mom. It never made sense to me that they picked a chick that looks 75-90% white to play her mom on Black-ish.

This chick could legit pass as white.

that actually had me thinking something was wrong when I first saw the trailer . I was like isn't bows mother almost white?
but now they trynna say she was raised in a NSXM cult... guess her dad had multiple "wifes .. "

Naw, I think the 2 actresses are supposed to be representing the same mom. They just glossed over the whole complexion thing.

overall this season has been a decline. one is a clear effect of kenya being gone, but the other might be overall damning to the show for the rest of its run. shows like this are hard as kids age, it was ok without zoe that first year (she never had the dope storylines anyway IMO) - the twins personalities were still hitting (they worked better when they were younger, between the growth disparity, diane having a lot of episodes where she wants to fit in and be a normal middle schooler, jack being dumb being run into the ground, they just aren't charming anymore). junior has always been hilarious, but his gap year and how that played out hasn't hit right either. they can't afford to lose him, but him just meandering and then dropping out hasn't sat right with me, that would've worked better for zoe IMO.
Yeah I was starting to find it a chore to watch most episodes as they started to delve too deep into standard sitcom type fare at the price of painting a realistic picture. It's gotten too cartooney in a lot of ways.

i'm not feeling it...at the end of the day, it doesn't make or break things, show seems superfluous anyway you cut it, but it just feels like some shyt white execs would do. on some "whatever...black mom...check. what role we casting next?" works for white america, but black audiences will always :usure:, nikkas aint let aunt viv go and it's 25 years later :russ:

and if this were the inverse, dark skin mom to light skin mom, there would be a million think pieces and hurt feelings on twitter and blavity...

Yeah there's no reason for me to rewatch any of this season's episodes in syndication

I just think they are correcting their original fukk up. The basically had Bow out there with 2 white parents. But yeah, the show just seems opportunistic to capitalize off the Blackish audience.

Hell I gave Grownish a chance off the strength off Blackish, but Grownish has turned out to actually be a good show. I was pretty shocked at how unfiltered that show is. Had to exclude my middle school age daughter from watching.
