The idea was that of black woman, but the dollars that run it are white...So who really runs it?....I like the idea in theory, but lets keep it funky....

The website isn't even HTML 5, which is a red flag off the top since this a non profit org geared towards coding...

The curriculum that they provide is not listed on the front page, nor do I see any success stories or blogs about any of the young ladies who may be succeeding or developing interesting projects.....

But what I do see off the top is a listing for events and how to make donations........I hope this sister is not using these young ladies for a non profit money grab....cause it happens all the time.....

Go watch the videos I posted early in the thread, they show girls creating apps, and working with volunteers from the community as well as different industries...they have chapters is different states and Africa

I really want to point something out that I've peeped but I don't want to start a whole 'nother argument, so why can't be just be happy that young black children are getting this kind of education.

If you see it point it out....I doubt that it gets out of hand...

Exactly, these nikkas is full of shyt and just wanna complain. :heh:
There's more then enough resources to start up a "Black Boys Code" or even a trade program(carpentry; electrical, etc), but they just wanna throw shot at these ladies.
That's why I fukks heavily for those who are actually about it, like @bdizzle @Y2kDre and @Blackking :salute:

Contact activists in your community; along with churches, youth centers and state your agenda.
New laptops can be had for $1000 or less, a decent sized rental space(that holds 50 or so people) can be probably be attained for $5000/month. If you get five laptops; decent internet; utility bills, 1-2 tutors, and rent could all be had $10 - $18k for the first month(purchasing laptops; internet, etc) then $13 k for subsequent months. $18,000 split up among 400 people is $45 per person, that's a half tank of gas right there.

Keep in mind, this is without sponsors(big companies), so the cost could be most cheaper. Not too mention, you may get grants to pull this off. You can actually seek to do what you're complaining about, or sit here and bytch about how "Black Girls Code" is some bull. :ld:

Well I was just going to say it seems like whenever a black woman does something outside of black men, it's solely for the purpose or advancement of white men and the degradation of black men.

I mean I don't agree that a program of any kind should be with black girls or black boys only but why is there always some kind of racist agenda when black women do it?

Uhmm....This sounds good and all, but what hood do you stay in that has an "activist" and a youth center.....It aint about the numbers really....but there is a lot of talent in extremely economically depressed areas, and this model you using would exclude most of them....Its a nice thought tho

Don't know if you can actually "quantify" an "agenda" however, no other race of people walking the earth will directly or indirectly elevate their women over their men...Maybe it stems from that.....Slavery, and hence the welfare movement plays a part in it as well

I'm not saying it's right or wrong just why whenever a black woman does something on her own it has to have this "black feminist" agenda behind it. And I'm sure white women have organizations that only benefit them as well as Hispanic women, not sure about Asian women though.

True, I can't speak for every area. You can still hit up churches; Boys And Girls Club type places, and schools. I'm not saying it's only for 50 people, I was just throwing out a practical example. The full details(location; how much funds needed, tutors, etc) about creating such a program would have to be discussed in a meeting, where people come up with ways for the program to conceive and reach a consensus.

Funny you bring up carpentry. I have an investment opportunity I'm working on, and as part of it I'm planning to start a mentorship/intern program for black dudes to get into carpentry. Gonna start a union and everything. The idea came to me like yesterday while I was driving. Had me like :ohhh:

On the real, you can do it a WHOLE lot cheaper than that. Will be doing that with the group I'm a member of. Should have had it up and running by now, but life got in the way :ld:. I'm still cooking though :cook:

Either way, most these fukk nikkas ain't gonna do shyt more than complain about it online. Besides, I'm pretty sure @Will Ross is a sodomite, so his hate for black women stems from his anger he has towards his mom. He wants nothing to do with vagina, and he's still pissed he had to pass through one at child birth :russ:

I'm glad we're getting young black kids into computers but something doesn't sit right with me. The boys in our community need the most but they get the least. Now I understand that more men should be stepping up but it just isn't happening but that should never be an excuse for letting our boys fall behind while we push the girls ahead.

This is all that really matters. The black men aren't stepping up, so instead of stepping to lazy nikkas to do what they should be doing, you're angry at women for filling a role most of us refused to fill.

Like I always say, it comes down to leadership. A lot of black men have no desire to fix the problems they say they're angry about. They'd rather complain about it and blame everyone on the planet, including their own women.

You want black boys to get into IT? Then start a class my nikka. I'm starting one in Atlanta by next year I'm hoping to have it popping in about 3-4 other major cities. But like I said, nikkas would rather use black girls code as an indictment against black women, instead of as motivation to get something started for black boys.

Black men not stepping up is a shame and I and well aware of it. I just don't think we should leave the boys out in the cold because their bum ass daddies ain't shyt. I give free sculpting classes in the summer and It's usually a mixed group of black boys and girls. I could never see myself turning down young girls and saying "ah well, tell your mother to step up and make a class" It just wouldn't feel right :to:
