Feminism is the reason so many black women who are raising children on their own are able to obtain education, a job, or career and provide for their children, why some black men who up and leave their children without looking back have to at least do the bare minimum of providing child support, why the rate of fatherless children is now much lower...because they now have access to birth control, why there are clinics for low income women who cannot afford health care. Education really is such a powerful tool and I believe that the fate of the black community really falls on the backs of black women. I hope more black women continue to become educated and this is instilled in the children they are raising, and they also go on to do the same...this is how we will better our community.

Um no you are completely wrong. Feminism actually helped poor white women more than it ever helped black women of any income level. You are contradicting yourself. You are saying the us women get paid less, BUT then speak about the good feminism has done for black women......why didn't eat equalize the wage gap?

Women should never be the sole leaders of the family. That is why we have so many young black boys running around booty popping. It is very unhealthy for boys and girls to be raised solely around one sex. Also during slavery most black men were taken away from their families. Post slavery many black families tried to reunite and men took pride in being able to provide for their family and protect their family. Are there black men that up and leave their family? Uh yes there is, but it is not the vast majority of black men. In 2013 the out of wedlock birthrate was 71.5%. There are women willingly having babies before getting married and then she and the boyfriend break up (usually a bad break up), and then she gets custody leaving the father out of the house. Some of the leading feminist actually wanted to sterilize black women and abort most black babies.

Not like White supremacy is the reason many of us can't handle being fathers or the immense responsibility that comes with it after being born in single mother house holds with no father to emulate, given shytty educations which stunt development, get shut out of livable wage jobs, deny us access to loans then lock us up when the streets is our only option, all of which affects you too .........but none of you "Black feminist" will campaign about those issues, just us saying "hi ma" on the streets or how white girls stole cornrows from you heck transgenders get more love in your "movements"

This is not hatred for black men...this is a fact. There are many fatherless black children. I did not say all black men do this but a large number do. Curious how you are denied access to loans? MY understanding is the poorer you are the easier it is to obtain them. I didn't come from a rich family and my undergrad education was funded through loans.

To start with feminism was never intended for black women. While white women were fighting for the rights to work...black women had ALWAYS been working. Black women were never the stay at home moms baking pies and gardening. We were cleaning houses, picking cotton, working in factories all along. Black women never had the luxury of relying on their men to be the sole providers from the start of this country...and hundreds of years later we still don't. As a black woman...I of course want black men to do well...but I also want MYSELF to succeed. My way of helping black men will be making sure I can provide for my family and my partner will do the same, my future children come from a two family household, and that they go on to college to get that good ole degree...and their children do the same. What good is crying about white supremacy if nothing is ever done to combat it? Shall we give it another 200 years?

I'm referring to the United States...I have arab friends who are usually well provided for by their husbands. Many of them work part time or are stay at home wives.

Well I gave you an example with music often referring to women as bytches and hoes. This also happens in everyday life too since so many men emulate what they see and hear with these rappers. I hear men refer to their girlfriends or just random girls they have met as "my bytch" or "these hoes." It's disgusting how men choose to call THEIR women such derogatory names. I also believe rap music has a very big part in the state of the black community but i'm not even going to start on that.

Anyway I'm done replying to this thread. It's a shame no one can engage in a healthy discussion/debate without resorting to name calling if someone doesn't agree with you like we're in kindergarten.

Nah honestly most black men do not WANT to be white men. They may feel at a disadvantage because they do not have the economic, social, and political advantages that white men have but want to have light eyes and straight hair? I disagree..... You have to understand that men and women have different social requirements. Men are expected to be leaders, protectors, and providers. Men do not have a high beauty requirement. Don't get me wrong there are women that fawn over attractive men and marry them but a smart moderately attractive to very attractive woman marries a man that can provide, protect, and build. On the other hand a woman's physical beauty is way more important than a mans physical attractiveness. That is why most wealthy men have attractive wives. I could be wrong but a man will marry an attractive sweet woman who is a pre school teacher before he marries an unattractive woman that is a doctor and rude. Of course you can't be some high school drop out who can't multiply or divide but if you are an attractive woman (You don't have to be Beyonce, but in shape and an easy on the eyes face) with a good personality, and something going for herself you can get a man of means.
