No, if there was a powerful patriachy, things would improve but we can't deny the fact that black men have been the greatest supporter of the white centric beauty standards for decades and it would take decades to dismantle this ingrained culture amongst black men. No other race upholds diluted women as the pinnacle of beauty whilst demonising those with purer roots. Even in black centric media, we see a fair representation of black men, from light skin to dark skin yet for women this isn't the case. A lot of black men need to face the fact that there are aspects of black male culture which is anti dark skin black women. I'm not saying black men are responsible for creating this culture as white supremacy is to blame, but we are responsible for continually upholding this culture into the 21st century. We should be promoting all hues for women.
