I just read on hellobeutiful (somewhat due to a fukking ad blocking most of the article) that Elle UK is saying that baby hair is what's hot now. Baby hair. I'm sick of this shyt.
For me it's not even that. I've seen with my own eyes what eurocentric standards of beauty does to young black girls self esteem.well, I can just give my analysis from my own point of view (not saying i'm necessarily correct)
Most women, as a collective, want their men to appreciate them first and foremost before other men do.
I feel like the reason why black women always complain about other women engaging in cultural appropriation is because they dislike that they wont get the recognition or ownership of something that they were looked down upon for having/doing.
but now all of a sudden, it becomes a new fad when a woman of another ethnicity makes it more appealing to the mainstream, meanwhile getting more attention, which leads to more $$$$$$. Even if its something demeaning like twerking.
But Like I said, IMO the root of all this dissatisfaction is based on black men not laying down the structure and controlling anything in their communities from the economics to the media images.
Its even worse in America b/c women are bombarded with images of beautiful dainty white women(and asian women and hispanic women), meanwhile black women are shown as aggressive and angry and tough with nothing to counteract these negative images( which will in-turn make other races of men see view black women as more appealing beyond just a quick lay or 'slumming' .)
The only thing we got in America right now is rap videos (which are full of biracial and mixed latin women) and basketball wives/ Love and hip hop /RHW of ATL and even that is not all that good because, yeah they got beautiful women on these videos and shows but they still act tacky with no class whatsoever.
Its almost inevitable to not be affected by those images living in America or Europe being a minority, lack of resources, and lack of parental support and positive reinforcement from the media and parents as well.
Yeah, Without Parents' positive reinforcement and ones own self-affirmation, its easy to become brainwashed by media outlets that dont always show people who look like you in a positive light....I agree but also people need parents or somebody to teach them better self esteem. Also maybe some people really just aren't attractive it happens and they just trying to use the I'm black stuff as a weak cop out. I just really hate hearing/seeing grown people talk about how everybody isn't fawning over them basically get over yourself
Like I said, If you have no alternative media outlets that Counteracts White media, (in addition to the negative stereotypes that they give off), then little girls are gonna want to mimmick what they see as positive in their own minds. I agree that it is their fault, But I dont really expect white people to accommodate to our liking (not saying we should just be satifised with that way our image is in the media)For me it's not even that. I've seen with my own eyes what eurocentric standards of beauty does to young black girls self esteem.
You see young black girls wanting to straighten their hair, lighten thier skin, and picking dolls that look nothing like them because they prettier than the black ones.
This is why I take issue with white media, I'm sure everyone in this thread has seen the doll test video at least once where young black children think the darkest child is the ugliest, the baddest, and the dumbest. Can't blame nothing else but white supremacy/white mass media.
Like I said before the issue is a lot deeper than Kylie Jenner wearing braids, she's just a scapegoat.
BW need to monetize cultural appropriation. there's white women out here giving twerking gym lessons in LA, the shyt makes no senseI just read on hellobeutiful (somewhat due to a fukking ad blocking most of the article) that Elle UK is saying that baby hair is what's hot now. i actually remember bringing this idea up a couple years ago back when miley cyrus was twerking at the VMA's.BW need to monetize cultural appropriation. there's white women out here giving twerking gym lessons in LA, the shyt makes no sense

Black people need to create our own artistic/media platform that shows positive images of black beauty that appeals to us.
discuss what? B/c most nollywood films i've seen have dark/brown skin women as love interests.Let's talk about a little movie called Dope (a very recent example. Black director, black screen-writer, and a mostly black cast (at least the males were). They had no problem using actual black men as actors, but every single female character was light/mixed. I won't even discuss the disturbing colorism in Nollywood.
White men have did far more cultural appropriation than any group.
But I don't see black women calling them out.
I on people like Sam Smith, Macklemore, Justin Bieber, Justin Timberlake, etc.White men have did far more cultural appropriation than any group.

Quoted for truthYeah, Without Parents' positive reinforcement and ones own self-affirmation, its easy to become brainwashed by media outlets that dont always show people who look like you in a positive light....
As far as people complaining about other groups not wanting them, I honestly think black people spend way too much time talking about that and thinking bout that stuff( although I know why we do, I just wish we'd do more action instead of always talking and debating about this stuff)
. I could go on all day but we need to just focus on ourselves and our own 'empowerment' and folks need to focus on their individual selves as well. Cant get other people to love you if you dont love and respect your self and take ownership of your own image
People generally dont have your best intertest at heart.
I don't want the approval of white men. I don't need a man to make myself feel beautiful. U know good & well I ain't no damn bedwenchGo to st0rmfr0nt and reddit to complain then. Stop begging white men to find you beautiful, it's not enough that black men love you and you love yourself. You bedwenches always need white men approval
