Along with the Univ of MD system - all the universities and colleges under their system is another big employer. I think everybody that I know who graduated from Morgan State with an accounting or finance degree works at T. Rowe.

T Rowe is like the biggest UMD and HBCU employer of black college interns and graduates from Maryland schools. they will at the least, give you an interview.. guaranteed, lol. I was told they promote fairly well and have a good set up there from people that I know. That's the thing about the DMV metro area - Govt, IT, law and the financial industry recruit heavy from local HBCUs and black minority programs. Poli Sci/PUAD undergrad level majors are eating out here getting congressional jobs, policy analysts and lobbying firms.

Yeah, don't get me wrong, jobs in general are pretty volatile b/c your livelihood is always in the hands of someone else. That said I'm still happy for folks that have the opportunity to make good money and provide with the great career fields and employers in this area. Plus if they're financially literate they can invest the excess and start building security. Everybody isn't cut out to be an entrepreneur even if it is extremely rewarding.True. Yet a source of income that is an eggs-all-in-one basket scenario - in this case, heavy gov't employment - can be turned off at will, or manipulated at will.
