Bro all black women don't have the same texture so this isn't going to work for every black woman. My mom and I don't even use the same products because things that work for my hair don't work for hers and vice versa.

That's what they don't understand. A lot of natural black women have probably spent hundreds of dollars trying to find products that work best for each of our individual hair type. They don't realize that learning how to take care of natural is not as easy as they think because even though we're the same race, we don't have the same hair and it can take time to find what works best for each of us.

The only lame thing here is your solution, my hair looks nothing like that woman's, nor is it the same length, why would we care for out hair the same way.

The are schools specifically built for hair care alone and they teach how to care for every hair type except for the many types of hair black women possess, so now we have to turn to YouTube? That's lame.

Youtube is def more cheaper and convenient than a "school." The knowledge is readily available. You're just needlessly paying for the knowledge by attending as school . Schools don't have some kind of secret wisdom that you only can obtain there.

So you have someone who works at a salon help u with ur hair? Or u do it itself?

my aunt started me off with twists, and in the early stages I fully maintained them myself, washing, braiding, twisting.

my hair is much longer now so I go to the salon for help, but it's not a must.

But you do have the option of going to a salon when you need help or don't feel like doing it, which was DarrlingNikki point about people who work professionally should learn to work with natural hair of all types.

Well it's low now but I had hair for at least 4 years throughout life. I wasn't taught to hate myself though so it was no biggie
I'm just trying to get you to see DarrlingNikkis point about ppl in the salon knowing how to take care of natural hair, its easier to go to a professional and seek help/guidance than to look through hundreds of YouTube videos and spend hundreds of dollars on products. I've been natural for almost 4 years and I'm just learning what routines and products work.

I agree with her, but if salons aren't an option then we MUST be able to take care of the natural hair that grows out of our heads, we can't just say "fukk it" because the beauty shop doesn't cater to us, after all it is OUR hair.
