The short film that launched a few careers...

It's fukking amazing.

The writer/director hasn't gotten a Hollywood feature ye (last time i checked)t, if a white guy had wrote/directed this he probably would have gotten one. But he's caking in television.

Good look on the post! Marlo's a good actor for real.

Better mus come. Caribbean piff

Three years in the making, Better Mus' Come brilliantly captures the deep rooted conflict at the heart of Jamaican politics as seen in violent images in news reports and recent explosive political headlines all over the world in the international manhunt for alleged Jamaican "Don", Christopher "Dudus" Coke, leaving 76 civilians dead and a government-mandated State of Emergency in its aftermath. In a timely and provocative production, Better Mus' Come traces the origins of the use of street gangs by political parties in their violent struggle to win the national election.

Has anyone seen Restless City before? I was really curious about it.

I randomly rented this out of the Redbox and then immediately went out and bought a copy. The story is a simple, yet beautiful one. And the cinematography is out of this world. Each frame looks like an award winning 35mm photograph. Do yourself a favor and go see it!

'Oscar Micheaux: The Czar of Black Hollywood' doc is another one piff:ohlawd:

"Mama's Black Baby Boy" is Part One of the celebrated documentary film The Czar of Black Hollywood and chronicles the first 20 years of filmmaker Oscar Micheaux's life from his humble origins in southern Illinois at the turn of the century to his arrival in the "black metropolis" of Chicago in the early 1900s, including his adventures as a Pullman porter.

SYNOPSIS

Oscar Micheaux (1884-1951) was a towering figure even by today's standards. He was not only America's preeminent black filmmaker for three decades, but also the most prolific; having directed or produced 22 silent movies and 15 talking pictures during his illustrious, yet tumultuous career. The Czar of Black Hollywood uses archival film, images and music to create a compelling documentary of Micheaux's early life and his production of the first feature length film, The Homesteader (1919), and sound motion picture, The Exile (1931), by an African-American.
