4. Claim 200million(economic activity) > 24million(economic impact)
- this is ridiculous for a couple reasons.
a. Again Incorrect ...your comparing two different metrics.
Economic activity doesn't equal economic impact.
Economic impact
A macroeconomic effect on commerce, employment, or incomes produced by a decision, event, or policy.
-
What is economic impact? definition and meaning
Economic activity
Actions that involve the production, distribution and consumption of goods and services at all levels within a society. Gross domestic product or GDP is one way of assessing economic activity, and the degree of current economic activity and forecasts for its future level can significantly impact business activity and profits, as well as inflation and interest rates.
-
What comes after those ellipses?
Economic impact is the difference between two different points of economic activity(events).
EXAMPLE: Economic_activity_1 - economic_activity_2 = Economic_impact
Economic impact analysis
An
economic impact analysis (EIA) examines the effect of an event on the economy in a specified area, ranging from a single neighborhood to the
entire globe. It usually measures changes in business
revenue, business
profits, personal wages, and/or
jobs. The economic event analyzed can include implementation of a new policy or project, or may simply be the presence of a business or organization. An economic impact analysis is commonly conducted when there is public concern about the potential impacts of a proposed project or policy.
An economic impact analysis typically measures or estimates the change in economic activity between two scenarios, one assuming the economic event occurs, and one assuming it does not occur (which is referred to as the
counterfactual case). This can be accomplished either before or after the event (
ex ante or
ex post).

Economic impact analysis - Wikipedia
As a matter a fact, for all anyone knows we could be talking about a negative economic impact ...even with 200million economic activity.
EXAMPLE: 200million(Bayou_classic_economic_activity) - 250million(average_economic_activity) = -50million(Economic_impact)
This is before even clarifying if we are talking about (activity & impact) in regards to revenue or profits ...a question which I'll leave alone for lack of data either way. The question then becomes...
What is the economic impact of the bayou classic on new orleans?
The Economic Impact of The Classic is Significant
When asked to discuss the economic impact of the Classic, Young added, “The famed Classic embodies a family friendly atmosphere and
fosters an economic impact of $50 million to the greater city of New Orleans.” (The $50 million economic impact is substantiated by the New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau based on hotel rooms.)

Bayou Classic: Holiday Tradition Combining Business with Pleasure
The
economic impact for our community is an estimated $50 million annually. That is an important infusion of revenue and is a strong kick off to the holiday season, which doesn't wrap up until the Sugar Bowl in January.

Bayou Classic traditions enrich New Orleans: Editorial
But it seems unlikely that the
Bayou Classic will change. Nor should it. The game is a Louisiana tradition that
brings an estimated $50 million economic impact to New Orleans. As for the idea of another match-up, the Bayou Classic name is jointly owned by Southern and Grambling. Consequently, if it's not Southern and Grambling, it won't be the Bayou Classic.

The Bayou Classic requires Southern and Grambling: Editorial
The
game and related events had a $50 million economic impact on the city in 2015, said Kristian Sonnier, vice president of communications and public relations for the New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau.
With projections for this weekend slightly higher than last year’s, “we expect the economic impact to be on par,” Sonnier said.
-
With a lot on the line, 43rd annual Bayou Classic could set attendance record
And to be clear that's a combination of the economic impact of both tourist bringing money into the city and local people spending money thats already floating around the local economy. I.E. if noone from out of town ever came to N.O there is still economic activity. the question then becomes...
How much outside capital was added to the New Orleans economy by the bayou classic?
The Bayou Classic is also more than just a football game and commemorates historically-black colleges and universities. There are usually community events held during the weekend such as concerts, playground builds, job fairs and college fairs. The popular Battle of the Bands and Greek Show showcases bands, fraternities and sororities from both universities in a fierce competition of song, dance and school pride. A Fan Festival held the day before the big game includes live entertainment, vendors, games and special giveaways.
An estimated 200,000 fans pour into the city every year for Bayou Classic,
pumping more than $30 million into the local economy.

...again that's by the folks paid with N.O. tax dollars to promote city tourism.
b. We are just talking about magic city classic economic impact in Birmingham city, the metro areas consist of lodging, shopping, and resturants that are in a different local jurisdiction / tax zone even though they are part of the Birmingham metro.
Attendees eat in restaurants in metropolitan and greater Birmingham, seek fashion alternatives at local shopping malls
Brookwood Village,
The Riverchase Galleria,
The Shops of the Summit, and
The Shops of Grandriver among others
, lodge in the myriad hotels around the city, and buy staples such as gasoline, foodstuffs, and pay admission to the game and some related activities, which provides the bulk of the aforementioned figure.

MCR: The “Classic” Impact
The above are in different tax collection zones even though they benefit from an economic impact by the magic city classic.
c. The above being dealt with it has to be noted that the whole angle of comparing economic activity & impact is flawed anyway. The embedded assumption is that more money spent = more people when in reality more money spent can simply mean New Orleans is a (more)expensive fukk'n town.
New Orleans: Beer $8.34 x 100k people = $834,000
Birmingham: Beer $7.57 x 100k people = $757,000
New Orleans: hotel $150 x 100k people = $15million
Birmingham: hotel $100 x 100k people = $10million
New Orleans: dinner $50 x 100k people = $5million
Birmingham: dinner $30 x 100k people = $3million
New Orleans: (Beer, hotel, & dinner x 100k people) = $20,834,000 total
Birmingham: (Beer, hotel, & dinner x 100k people) = $13,757,000 total
By your nonsense logic the above difference is because more people turned out. No! While not as bad as San Francisco or New York, New Orleans is simply a more expensive city than Birmingham.
