I guess I am being overpicky but my house being glued on to my neighbors like that would be the last thing I would do if I had an ocean of money

lmao its the caribbean boy in me...l need a lil bit of space..

I would buy like 3 of those...convert into one place and soundproof that bytch

Apparently they are pretty soundproof. They were built in a quality manner

Housing market will not crash like the mid 2000s again. That was less about housing and more about CDOs from said housing subprimes that the economy invested in. This is not happening again like that.

This. Banks were giving people mortgages with no job. Giving people mortgages with cash back and all kinds of retardedness. The market will not crash like that. It may drop, but not like that.

It's a way to park money especially if that money is somewhat ill gotten. My friend in real estate in nyc was telling me how a lot of the foreign buyers are Chinese who were made wealthy through govt. ties over there and those ties are volatile as hell when govt. changes , you don't get the same favors as because. So what they do is park money in the US and I also hear that you can get your green card and on pathway to US citizenship that way since buying real estate for a certain amount is considered "investment" in the American economy.

They've been doing it in Canada. Vancouver and Toronto prices have doubled/tripled in the last 5 years. We have that vacancy tax too. Chinese bout to run the world very soon.

I hope so, I figure Manhattan is a different animal but in Toronto soundproofing is based on the building code here which is shyt, so you can have a multi-million dollar condo with shyt soundproofing.

Those are in Brooklyn but Manhattan has a lot too. They were built over 100 years ago, with true craftsmanship. Even the ones in the hood are going for at least 1 million dollars now

Brooklyn keeps on taking it.
I wouldnt mind something in the air, just not those style of buildings. Like they said, for every 1 horzintal foot, those buildings are adding 15-24 vertical feet, that’s a ridiculously slim building.

432 Park Ave is ugly. The engineering is dope but a lot of Manhattan folks didn’t like that building popping up like that.

Makes sense I remember watching a documentary a while back about Vancouver specifically being one of the most expensive cities to live in terms of housing. In addition to that, the executive of Huawei (the chinese electronics company) who was arrested in Canada waiting to be extradited to the US agreed to put one of her homes in Vancouver as part of her $10 million dollar bail. That's crazy.

But all this highlights how unbearable and expensive some cities in North America can be. In NYC, you do not get value for your dollar and the quality of life is poor for working class and middle class. You have to fight for everything from a seat on the train to a housing lottery to get decent "affordable" housing but seems everybody from all over wants to live there, its going to be that way for a while.

You paying for the name and "lifestyle"....

Atlanta will be headed that same way...if they get a half decent train system(according to what I read on here its bad)its gonna be a different ball game...

What people dont get is once you start talking about your city is gearing up to be better than new york, you basically cheering on higher prices and gentrification..:mjlol:

Oh it's happening but it's not going to be so widespread but we're going to see a lot of bankrupt people in there 30s and the divorce rate and suicide rate spike
Breh we are due for a recession so how can you say that when prices are at an all time high?
Possibly but that's not at all what tanked the economy before. Housing markets fluctuate then regulate, that's normal. The housing market CAUSED the recession before, typically it's the other way around and the reason THAT happened was because the debts were bought up and secured all throughout the economy which doesn't happen. The last recession was basically America buying Bitcoin...but in December. When The bottom fell out it wasn't just banks that took the hits (like it usually does). You had entire cities buying these CDOs from banks, even retail chains did it. And selling billions of dollars in IOUs that were made up of people who you'll never get that money from welp...:francis:

Point is, the mechanic that caused the recession before can't happen again due to regulation. Doesn't mean that a recession won't occur, it just won't be because of real estate. And real estate has gone back to being a reflection of the economy, not the thing that can break it.

I get your point and you are right but the funny thing is the "lifestyle" is uncomfortable for most people. A lot of people front. In order to enjoy the city you need to make great money and you have a family (spouse and kids) it's damn near game over if you are not in an upper income level yourself or spouse. Again, I am talking about living a comfortable life not anything extravagant but just comfortable that city will eat you and chew you out and you get over the little novelties of bodegas being open all night or the train (which is always under construction seems like the thing never gets fixed permanently) running the whole night, or running through Central Park or Central Park concerts in the summer.

All those things get old quick, and especially if you have lived in other parts of the country or world, you realized how much you are getting screwed in terms of cost and quality of life, if money is not an object then you are straight but how many people can say that?

Nah you are very right about the "lifestyle"...

It seems some of these outta towners wanna be uncomfortable or come from "dead" areas of the country...

I've seen Cacs living in hoods that I dont even wanna be in:dwillhuh:...

Most people gotta game the system at some level to get by...
