Like I said, no different than most of The Coli. :shaq2:

Most of the coli couldn't tell you shyt without Google. Their basketball knowledge probably goes back to two seasons ago and whatever they see on 2k13.

Bill talks out of his ass for some kind of entertainment value. Like when I see him guest-host on PTI and he tries to outfunny Kornheiser lol.

Simmons is alright, he's just too much of the angry fan for me. He's basically the voice of whites calling into sports radio.

I fukks with the Book of Basketball heavy, that was a great read and you don't have to agree with his list, but he backs up his opinions. That being said, he just isn't good on television at all, and I haven't even seen Countdown yet.

And I can only listen to his podcast on Mondays when he and Cousin Sal guess the NFL lines. He's such a degenerate gambler that it's kinda funny.

How is he different? We can all spout off random stats too. Doesn't mean we're qualified to give professional analysis.

He doesn't just spout off random stats. He watches more basketball than 99% of the posters here.

Whether he can give groundbreaking analysis or not is a different question entirely but at least the guy watches the games and is interested in them. That's more than I can say for most of ESPN's analysts on any sport.

Simmons is like a lot of analysts a flip flopping prisoner of the moment.

For instance, before the season:

1. To the Knicks fans who keep asking: If you're going to switch allegiance to Brooklyn, it has to happen this summer. But I'm fine with it.
1h Bill Simmons ‏@sportsguy33
2. Here's the thing - Dolan is NEVER selling. The franchise will ALWAYS be screwed up. You have a 2nd NYC team and a legit excuse to leave.

3. If Celtics were in same situation (with a Dolan owner), I'd stop rooting for them and be an NBA widow unless there was a 2nd Boston team.

4. The important thing to remember - Dolan is a complete buffoon. You have a 12-year track record to examine now. He's an incompetent owner.

5. So you have to ask yourself... "Do I really want to spend DECADES of my life with my NBA fate tied to this guy?" You control that answer.

6. And if you're a diehard, loyal down-with-the-ship type fan, that's fine too... stay with the Knicks. Just saying you have an out here.

7. My buddy @housefromdc quit on Orioles because of Angelos (Dolan-esque). Baseball widow for years, now a huge Nats fan. Totally happy.

8. Last thought - I have a great deal of respect for Knicks fans (and NYK history + MSG). They deserve better than... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YIiM91 …..

Basically saying Knicks fans should become Nets fans and now after four games:

Just curious - how many Knicks fans would trade Carmelo for Gallinari, Chandler and Mosgov right now?

Motherfukker jumped on the Carmelo bandwagon.

I'm not sure if you meant to quote me but Bob Ryan is a fukking genius when it comes to basketball.

Ryan moreso than Simmons no doubt.. But even having said that.....

There is a huge difference from being a nerd of history to actually knowing the game.. Like I explained before at the :hamster: Having encyclopedic knowledge of the game is one thing...

Where as someone like Doug Collins KNOWS the game from a perspective that has much more value than someone like Simmons could ever give.....

If you ask Doug Collins who the 34th pick in the 1977 draft was he wouldn't have a clue.. But he can break down how many pick and roll variations you can get out of a Flex offense in his sleep...

If you listen to a lot of Simmon's analysis he doesn't have that great of a grasp of a game at all..And I'm a fan of the guy....Just don't get carried away...

What's your point? You want to see Doug Collins on TV more when he's done coaching? When he was on TNT everyone bytched about how he was as a color guy.

People who are pro-Simmons in this thread (including myself) don't believe he is going to add great analysis. We are comparing him to other people on the same network that added virtually nothing. Simmons at the very least watches the games, knows the players, and CARES about what is happening.

thats true

thats the problem with punditry in this country. The Hubie Browns and Doug Collins are not appreciated that much.
