why people act like jordan and pip could easily stop the likes of Lebron, KD and even Melo?

sure they were top notch perimeter defenders but lets not act like these nikkas can stop elite scorers at any given moment
stop and slow down are two different things

they would most definitely make things more difficult for those scorers than what we saw in the olympics, that's no question

Getting hot against Nigeria and Lithuania is one thing.....they aint getting the open looks to get hot against the length and speed that the perimeter players on the 92 Dream Team had.

Pippen and Jordan contesting some of those threes.....aint nobody getting hot for 37pts on that...I'm sorry.

I think Simmons summed it up pretty decent though.

Jordan and Pippen would have to double either Durant or Melo. If they came up, why put on an act like Melo or Durant couldn't drive past them?

One of them would have gotten open. I saw Petro rain threes on MJ. It's not impossible.

Why put on an act like they aren't much better defenders than anything those players saw in the olympic games? :ld:

I don't understand how you can just dismiss what I typed like it isn't true...unless of course you're just looking to debate for the sake of debating.

They are, yet they'd still have to double either Durant or Melo, leaving one of them open. And if they pressed the three, Melo and Durant are talented enough to drive past MJ or Pippen. And CP3 or Deron Williams could easily have gotten as hot. Pippen and MJ can't guard all of them.

This myth or idea that any of these players can stop each other without help is pure crap.

I never used the word "stop" or even implied that so you're quoting me based on other posts from different heads in here.

I used the words "contest" , "slow down" and "make things more difficult"

they are too talented offensively to be "stopped" by anyone

  • No one told you any of that.
  • No one focused on Lebron in the post
  • What's being mostly talked about was their advantage at hitting threes.

Bird was his prime in 1992?

:what:

:beli: did you even read the article???

That's when 1992 Michael tries to fight off a sarcastic smirk and says, "Really? I'd love to hear more. Tell me a little about these guys."

"Well, they have someone named LeBron who's the best basketball player since you. They have someone named Durant who's an even better shooter than Bird in his prime.

All it would take is one of those blackout shooting nights from the 2012 team, the centers are the huge advantage for the 92 team, but when this current teams gets hot there's absolutely nothing you can do.

Lol, we're talking bout the best players in the world....both teams were capable of "blackout" shooting nights.

12 is good enough to hang with 92 like Spain is good enough to hang with 12, but Spain ain't beating 12 outside of some fluke shyt.

Nah. the 92 team didn't ahve lights out 3 point shooters like this team. Bird was old. Mullin was pretty much the only worry to that degree.

FAMU can beat Kentucky if they make 26 three pointers..That doesn't mean they're the better team...Could they this team beat '92? Sure....Would they? Probably not...

:myman:

Exactly of course on a given night they could get hot and you could point to certain matchups but as far as which team had more talent and all time legendary players its not close

What's the likelyhood that FAMU could make 26 three pointers compared to the 2012 US team on anyone?

The 2012 team may have been the best shooting team of all time.

“You’ve got three scorers on this team that can get blistering hot if we make two shots in a row,” said Kobe Bryant. “It’s crazy. I’ve never seen anything like it. All of a sudden, it’s like the floodgates open. A 10-point lead turns into 20 very, very quickly.”

Now who else wanna fukk with Hollywood Court?
:stopitslime:

NIgeria isn't Jordan/Pippen prime, those nikkas not letting USA shoot uncontested 3s all day

:shaq2:

So, Jordan and Pippen are going to cover the entire floor? So, if Pippen and Jordan are guarding LeBron/Kobe, who then is on Kevin Durant . The 2012 team has better perimeter defenders than the Dream Team, the biggest strength the Dream Team has is inside.

No, the Dream Team was not capable of "blackout" shooting nights like the current team, they did not shoot the 3 like the 2012 team, they made 54 threes for the entirety of the Olympics.

The 3 is the biggest equalizer in basketball, and the current team can get hot from 3 like no other team I have ever seen. They hold scoring records for Olympic basketball, not the Dream Team.

people underrating the 2012 players, as usual. im sorry but ewings slow ass aint dominating sh!t, neither would Drob. 2012 athletes would swarm them to death.

people need to realize the game has changed from 1992. their game was slower and more big men centric, now guards and swing men dominate. there is two sides to the ball. people claim 1992 team would just punish them inside, but who are they going to guard ? barkley, and malone supposed to have a chance against lebron, durant, and melo ? i dont think the dream team would be successful at making it a slow, grind it out game. neither magic or stockton is staying in front of paul, williams, or westbrook. i think the uptempo game would greatly favor the 2012 team, and they would get plenty of open 3s, which they specialized in.

just my opinion :manny:
