The cosbys wasn't even realistic or up to date with the family crisis many black families were facing in the 80's,letalong today. Modern day parenting is parenting that is based around modern day reality,and teaching a child the neccesary tools needed to survive the envioronment we live in,in modern day times. Many parents raising their kids the same way their parents raised them because they think they turned out alright. Meanwhile theres a whole different list of precautions you need to be taking,chances are your parents were behind as well.
Kids today are coming up in a morally bankrupt society,lacking a fear of god
. Kids have social media and phones which make it easier to get in trouble. Kids are sexually active and at least trying to have sex way younger than we did. Little kids in elementary school but trying to fukk something
You can't wait til your kid is in junior high and especially not highschool before you have a sex conversation with your kids.Not to mention we are not in a era of two parent households,so you can't just tell single mothers they can raise their kids in normal fashion. Why is teen pregnancy lower now than the 90s? Lol....especially among blacks that have the lowest rate.
Kids get in less trouble cause they not hanging out at the mall....they inside using social media and computers even if they on someone else porch, lol. Teenage violence is lowest ever.

It may not have been realistic compared to now, but it sure was uplifting and still was realistic, because they had problems, kids cutting up, health problems, racism, all that shyt. I think the only I agree with you is terms of social media and phones, but parenting means restricting your kids from that shyt. No grade school kid should have a cell phone. You have to monitor what your kids are watching. What Cosby was saying was that we need to stop thinking and acting like single parenting is an acceptable norm devoid of consequences. Cosby was talking about trying to end the cycle of single mother, single grandmother, single great grandmother households where no man is present, so all you have is female energy running a household; and that really doesn't put kids in the best situation in life. Meanwhile all of the commercials out now show Black women with white men and mixed kids....basically pushing the agenda that Black men aint shyt. Stats show that kids from 2 parent households tend to fare better, now there are exceptions; but I don't think we should live our lives using exceptions to explain everything or to discount what Cosby was saying.
