I thought he admitted to drugging these women? I understand all the mental gymnastics that were applied and that the jury was confused as to whether it was consensual or not, but MY definition of rape is having sex with someone when they are not in the mind frame to consent, and that might not be everybodies, so I get it. Are you saying that the women is just as responsible because she put herself in the situation, she should have known what to expect, or are you implying it never happened? Not being disingenuous, just curious to get your thoughts, I haven't seen many people if anyone say that this straight up didn't happen.

My thoughts on this situation have been consistent:

He admitted in a deposition to giving quaaludes to women with the intent of having sex with them. In that same deposition, he said that the women willingly took them.

If it can be proven that Cosby sexually assaulted or raped even ONE woman, I think he should go to jail for life and have his image and rep destroyed.

However, 50+ women have never been able to show that he did sexually assault and rape them. Moreover, their accounts were laced with inaccuracies, inconsistencies and outright lies. Furthermore, some of these women have been exposed for fabricating the alleged rapes for money and/or exposure.

If he did rape anybody, he would've been convicted a long time ago.

Plus, I'm VERY skeptical of a shytload of white women accusing a black man of raping them with absolutely no concrete evidence.

Fair enough, I disagree, and tend to believe the women, even if there have been some inconsistencies, 50 women is 50 women, but he hasn't been convicted of anything, so I won't be out holding signs and protesting.

I just watched this not too recently :russ:

I feel like he was bombing in the 2nd episode, but in the way that only a vet can save himself, somehow he did it and it's a testament to how good he is :obama:

The way he concealed that Cosby bit and then punched you in the face with it was pure genius.

Having sex with someone while they're under the influence of drugs or alcohol constitutes rape.
The reason he hasn't been convicted is largely due to the statute of limitations, the time-span of his crimes, public sympathy because he's a popular family-oriented figure, and a massive media campaign backing him.
I'm not sure what "proving" means exactly, the "burden of proof" differs by person, and juries are notoriously unreliable.
Rapists rarely get convicted. :yeshrug:

For the longest time I said SOME of the women sounded credible, but the ones I believed got busted lying. So, I think all these charges are bullshyt now.

Anyone who's had a woman try to feed you a cover story knows how women lie. some of these women you can just watch and tell they're lying.

If he really did rape these women, then it's a shame it took so long for them to come forward or be heard.

These types of crimes are already difficult to prove... I mean, and I haven't followed the details of this trial closely, but it seems the jury has to decide based on the testimony of women who are recalling events that happened decades ago, whilst being under the influence (whether willingly or not). How can one, in good conscious, convict a man on such flimsy hearsay alone?

I think its probable that Cosby did take some indecent liberties with some women, but they aren't likely to get justice from our system.

This is true. I personally believe in karma, and if these women did get abused, just letting them to be able to tell their stories seems liberating to them, I have heard interviews with a couple of them and they are abused daily by Zealot Cosby fans. That is a pretty disparaging experience to subject yourself to on a lie, when it comes to people like this, especially women claiming to be victimized, I tend to believe the women, even more so when there is a zero sum game (not sure if these women are looking for a money grab, but again, I am trusting) for them.

its not a zero sum game. their is a chance to get paid not just from cosby from books being written, from interviewers and tv shows, magazine covers, etc. and lets not act like black men have never been taking down like this before. it has happened and women have done it just like men have. and the reason why they did it had to do with makign sure that brotha was taken down. that was their goal. so if thats their goal this time. thats more than enough for them. even if they're lying or telling half trues.

It's amazing how some people can't see the bigger agenda with this Cosby situation. It's bigger than him and has serious long-term ramifications for black people as a whole.

:patrice:how is this a misleading thread title when it's literally the exact wording of the first sentence in an AP article?

Bill Cosby has hired powerhouse attorney Tom Mesereau to be a part of his legal team. Mesereau accompanied the embattled entertainer as they arrived at a courthouse outside Philadelphia for a pre-trial hearing Tuesday. The lawyer, who famously won an acquittal for Michael Jackson back in 2005 during the singer's child molestation trial, did not want to speak to reporters outside court. He expressed support for Cosby in an interview with Inside Edition in 2016.
