If Dennis Quaid, Kevin Costner or Martin Henderson is in your cast in a leading role, that joint flopping
True
They basically filmed this movie twice, one year apart. The first production lasted almost a year because Beatty kept on wanting a million takes and the script wasn't finished. Then everyone had other shyt to do so production was halted. They got back together a year later and filmed for like another year. They also hired like every big name writer to do re-writes. Classic Hollywood disaster.
What were they thinking

Some of these movies you could tell would be trash and others I've never heard of even know so why was the budget so damn high

judging from that list, hollywood spends way too much money on period films. If you making a film set in horse and buggy times or older, you don't need to be spending over 100 million dollars on the production.
Other ones seem to just be shytty films that they gambled on and lost.

Town & Country was like a movie from the late 70s/early 80s that somehow came to theaters in 2001

it wasn't just that it was a bad movie, it was a bad movie from a bygone era
