People get confused looking at LA. There is still roughly ~240,000 black people in South Central LA, and South Central is still ~30% black. For comparison, Atlanta's estimated black population in 2017 is ~254,000:

Atlanta city has close to 500,000 people. South Central LA is right around 800,000 by itself. Someone from Atlanta comparing The A to LA has to consider that LA is much, much larger than Atlanta, and LA's discriminatory history segregating blacks to basically one area of town. Of course you can be in parts of LA and see few black people, South Central itself is basically larger than the entire city of Atlanta...

I find it funny people single this out about LA. New York is draining it's black population much faster than LA, and while the population in NYC is much larger, there are areas in NY you can go and see few black people, too...

All major cities are losing blacks besides a handful in the South. LA isn't losing nearly as bad as NY, Chi, and a grip of other cities, but the difference is there were never as many blacks in LA to start with as other places, so the reduction is pronounced...
