Happy New Year fellas. I’m trying to stay strong and not get the Platinum until Spring. But the devil is busy. They sent me offers for Business Gold and Platinum in the last week. I almost cracked. I heard business doesn’t appear on your credit but I’m not sure I could hit the spend to get the bonus. A business Amex rep called me a few months ago but I didn’t take the plunge. I really wanted the personal but the business may be better. I could always pay my taxes and book a trip to hit the spend. My goal is to hit Diamond status.

I had the business for 1 year but couldn’t justify the double fee come renewal time. I was traveling a lot then and the free airplane internet alone made it worth it.

Anyone here with the Schwab AMEX Platinum? I was going to get one with first year membership waived if AMEX hadn’t come through with another retention offer for the regular platinum.

The Schwab gives you a little more flexibility with your point spend (can turn it into cash by investing it) and an extra half point, I think.

I was looking at that the other day. Intro offer is like 100k points or something. Almost jumped at it... I didn't know they were waiving the first year membership. shyt, I might hop on it then.

Diamond with who? Because platinum gives you Hilton and Marriott gold automatically (which makes it easy to get premium status with both those chains).

Business platinum is better than personal platinum but it’s not night and day, like 15% better from what I’ve read.

for me, a frequent traveler the platinum card is worth the $700 a year EASY. my whole intention on getting the card was to enjoy centurion airport lounges and the free food drinks. in addition to that there are a ton of perks worth about 1k a year that I take advantage of so the card is very profitable for me.

I’ve done that before. Unfortunately I can’t get away that long anymore with 2 toddlers. Later in their lives though they will have to figure out how to survive while we are missing for a full calendar page
