That is my point. Why isn't any of this ever brought up to make the case for Big Boi being a GOAT without it being a reaction to Andre 3000 being the topic of discussion. How many arguments have there actually been about Big Boi being a GOAT?

If you need a a solo album to even be in contention (according to posters who apply this members of duos and groups) to be GOAT and posters are out here saying Big Boi is >>>>>> Andre, why don't they ever put Big Boi in those ranks when the question of Top MC's is randomly posed?

A lot of Outkast fans (especially ones who didn't care for the over the top weird shyt) resent the narrative. But at the same time got love for Dre and don't want to detract from him either. So, yeah, it's reactionary. It's "hold up, Big Boi just as nice and actually done more on his own." Most ain't out there saying Big Boi's the genius, Dre's just a weirdo along for the ride.

From everything I've seen the demographics likely to put Dre on the pedestal and ignore Big Boi the same to call Yeezus a masterpiece (cacs and elitists).

Except that's not how it is at all. Their own peers who are fans of Kast have Andre 3000 in their Top 5. David Banner speaks highly of Andre's verse off "Da Art of Storytellin". He never says anything negative about Big's verse, but gives high praise to Dre's and even the most avid Kast fan would do the same. Trick Daddy had Andre in his Top 5. Scarface and T.I. have put Andre 3000 in their top 5's. T.I. even has it in a rhyme (the intro from Paper Trail). A lot of MC's have.

And to go even further Hot 107.9 had a GOATC tournament going NCAA style back in 2007. Andre 3000 won it. Anyone can tell you Hot 107.9ATL isn't running rampant with cac fans and elitists.

There's an interview from the 90's at an HBCU where a student is reciting Andre's verse from "Thought Process" verbatim.

nikkas that aint from the south overlook Big Boi. He's the more unapologetically southern half of the group so his delivery and slang is a turn off for nikkas who liked the more "polished" sound of Andre even tho Andre is just as southern as Big Boi.

Big aint never got ate up by Andre. Even if I like Dre verse more Big still killed his shyt too. Art of Storytelling Part 4 is a prime example.

they are similar to UGK

people think its disrespect to rank people because they are insecure

without Andre ... they never make it to next level. He always pushed shyt to next level, concept wise and with thought pattern
dungeon, kast, noize etc all make the perfect blend of funk, down south trunk music. Big Boi is easily one of ATL's most prominent artists of all time skill and image wise.
nikka andre is like a monarch butterfly. He transcends reality. There's always 1 thing that pushes shyt way over the top and in this case its Andre... its like DMX and ruff ryders etc you can see it in most groups... eminem D12. There's one person who elevates shyt 3 levels higher. Its not a knock on other people that these types exist. Its just some people are born different. MJ and Jackson 5. Jimi Hendrix and the Experience, Jim Morrison and The Doors, what would Wutang be without Rza? they wouldnt have been at all.

Outkast is dope because they understand eachother and do their own thing. Its not insecure or weird at all. Most groups or fans will place things in a box and it destroys it. These dudes are genius because they dont care. They just want the best for eachother and have their own agenda without judgement or politics. Somewhere behind all of this outkast shyt there was a deal made regarding their last album. They obviously both agreed and planned it to be this way.... they could easily finish the deal but they avoid it.

Outkast fans love both. People will do this Big Boi is better stuff off and on acting like we don’t know he’s nice. Same people ain’t said nothing about his music post Outkast… Big just recently put a song out with Sleepy Brown. who’s really talking about it though? The tweet in the OP framed the tweet making it look like Big Boi posted that rap after Dre’s verse from Kanye’s song leaked and got all the praise. Big Boi posted that rap himself like a week ago.. Nobify was saying this stuff. They’re talking now because Dre is getting praise again. It’s sickening… it’s possible to love both Big and Dre at the same time.

This.

This Andre exaltation over Big Boi is mostly from them Pitchfork "wanna dictate the culture" types
:snooze:

Some of us just relate to dre’s rhymes more than we did big’s. I preferred the way Dre’s way expressing how he saw the world to big’s way of expression. Kast is a group that is strongest together and I view them as equals, often two sides of the same coin.

I also think Big mastered his way of spitting, while Dre’s became more versatile. I’ve been listening to kast since southernpalyalistik… Big definitely stood out then because he was being himself, while it felt more like Dre was trying to fit in.

Atliens was my favorite because Dre really started being himself without the in demand 90’s rugged image. we got to see the whole “player and the poet” theme come to fruition.

No one is technically better, it’s just about who we vibe with more. Big was clearly the stronger personality and artist on the debut. When Atliens dropped they were truly equals, skill wise, I got more out of Dre’s verses. It’s been that way to the present.

You can learn a lot about life from both of their verses, through all the albums. I hate the “who’s best” argument. I think that shyt is stupid, pointless, and shortsighted on some crabs in a barrel shyt.

It basically boils down to preferring a beautiful detailed graffiti mural or the beautifully detailed and blended watercolor nature portrait.

My brother is close to my age. He also loves Outkast as a group. He sold drugs fukked hoes early, etc. He always vibes more with big verses. I liked doing artsy Fartsy shyt and overthought everything. I vibes more with Dre verses.

Always thought it was weird how people would mention Andre in their songs and not Big Boi, like the level of talent was that wide between them. They would even say OutKast and then say Andre right after, like he was the leader of the group.

It reminds me of how some people disrespect Guru in an attempt to praise DJ Premier, as if Gang Starr was Premier doing all the work trying to carry an average-sounding bum.

:mjlol:
It’s funny you mentioned guru. I became a fan of gang Starr in middle school. My big cousin from Memphis was casually playing some gang Starr around my big cousin from NYC and he got mad AF like “turn that bullshyt off, he always wasting beats!”

Now that I’m older it just seems like it all depends on personality. Some people really get mad at rappers if they don’t sounds menacing or aggressive lol. Like they need artist’s voice to force them to pay attention instead of the content.

Some of us enjoy the more subdued voices of the artists and the constant aggression and super thug shyt gets annoying after a while. I liked prodigy because he could blend the two qualities together into subtle aggression lol.

It’s all about how our personalities gravitate toward certain artists.
