I remember the first few days after all the lockdowns started all the animals started coming back into the cities and the smog cleared up

That was insane and historic. I'd open my window and breathe fresh ass air in Paris of all places. I could watch the city at night and hear nothing but silence. A car every two minutes or so. If the moon had whispered in that moment I'd have caught it.

I really was realizing this might be a one time thing in history.

Not really. Plenty of companies have doubled and tripled down on remote only. There’s no point in paying these high ass commercial rents or mortgages if you don’t have to.

Those companies moved the needle and changed history ALREADY. They made all the difference and they will have plenty of the best workers the economy can have, while the old traditional offices will lose their best talent.

Expect mass resignations, even higher than last year. The paradigm of old is already dead and gone; just that the old employers don't know that they will lose their best employees over WFH jobs that will still be available for decades to come.

these motherfukkin companies have to realize that their shyt culture had alot of people at breaking points yet they stuck it out because bills had to be paid.

now this once in a generation pandemic pops up, derails the status quo and then suddenly a lot of people have this “awakening”.

the WFH crowd is still getting work but the blue/brown collar workers (in some instances) said “fukk it” and chose to quit outright rather than put up with the politics and bullshyt of low pay/shytty schedules + dealing with entitled customers (and crap bosses).

this is the closest to an “early retirement” thats the most WFH workers are ever gonna get. And just because you WFH it doesn’t mean your work is glamorous. So, you make up for it by working in bed, sleeping in, traveling a little more and shaking off the stress of being around people you don’t fukk with (in the office) — along with not having irritating commutes.

Some WFH folk got this boiled down to a science and have figured out how to re-humanize themselves during all of this.

Any company thinking people want to come back is delusional. These companies inabilities to fill their fukkin office space IS NOT our problem.
