Both his parents are black (albeit light skinned)

His brother looks more "stereotypically" black in the face.

I really don't know why so many people wanna beef with the Currys. He grew up black, albeit privileged and rich, but he still grew up black, and has two black parents. There has never been any confusion with how the Currys identify...

All the Curry kids look unquestionably black, someone can say their mom looks on the iffy side (not in my opinion though), but the kids definitely all look black. This is America, most of us have Euro features of some kind because "African-American" literally means you have white blood...

Cats need to go somewhere with that Purity Game/Black Nazi shyt lol...

This woman is proof tha one drop rule needs to die.

Nobody lives by that anymore, and even though Halsey self-identifies as "biracial black", her lifestyle and existence isn't that of a black woman in any other facet. It would be different to me if she kept black company and spaces, promoted black causes, dated black (even if not exclusively, because you don't have to exclusively date black to be black, but she isn't known to have dated anyone black at all), etc. She could look the exact same way she looks but if her lifestyle matched it would be easier to accept...

Her lifestyle and existence isn't black, and I'm cool with that, because in her case, she clearly doesn't live black...

Apparently she does or else she wouldn't feel pressured to identify as something she isn't.

Well, the one drop rule was created for muhfukkas like her, people you couldn't tell were black. The history of America for most of its existence was to preserve whiteness, so finding out someone had a black relative, even if you couldn't tell, helped preserve whiteness because then you could put them in with the rest if the disenfranchised--->us...

The one drop rule wasn't created for people like the Currys who you can clearly and obviously tell don't meet the standards of whiteness by any stretch of the imagination. The one drop rule wasn't created for people you could tell were black, you don't have to "measure" the blackness of muhfukkas you can see have blackness on them...

In Halsey's case, I really don't get the impression she buys into one drop rule ideology. I think a couple things are at play, one being she's young (24) and still not matured as a person yet, still searching for identity. Another being, she seems to have a thing for being viewed as different, in the company she keeps and spaces she inhabits, she's not around many black people at all, or people with a black parent. I think this is part of what gets her going, she can view herself as different in her circle because she's most likely the only person most times with a black parent...

And she's probably heard enough racist rhetoric over time, and seems to really love her father, and identifying with him is her toe to any form of blackness...

I see all of things in play, but not that she really cares about the one drop rule, because she speaks from both sides---->she says she has lived as a white woman and acknowledges that, that isn't someone who really cares about the one drop rule....

Obviously I'm not a psychologist but I'm confident in my amateur analysis! Lol...

His parents are not black, his parents are mixed

So are like pretty much all African Americans one way or another. Are we "not black" too? For black Americans people with the same parents can have dramatically different features/skin tones.

You aren't really making a point, and his dad has two black parents. Do you realize how crazy you sound? Nobody who has an African-American parent is black then, correct?

Anyone who wouldn't smash is gay, y'all bringing up race as if it actually fukkking matters here.

Absolutes don't work, family. To some fellas she isn't all that attractive, nothing more nothing less. But I can agree race doesn't matter...

Bro this is too intelligent, race threads out here always bring on uninformed commentary...
