We always made what would later be called "Country" music...we just were never marketed as such.

Yeah Folk music, we laid the foundation for modern country music. Even original Funk music sounded like today's country music.

For instance if you go listen to Funkaedlic's first album is a folk music album that sounds country like.

I still think this is a bad move for her.

So you liked Renaissance part 1? That was up to par for her.
What I think isn’t important.
What is important is that Renaissance was a massive critical and commercial success spurring one of the highest grossing tours of all time and was incredibly succesful by every single metric.

Country is popping actually, it's hot right now and has the most sales.

Go to Bilboard, don't assume shyt you don't know about breh. Tobby Keith and Morgan Wallen are number 1 and 2 on Bilboard's albums list.

Meanwhile hiphop sales are down and at astounding lows.

As for Renaissance and that dance music, electric sound. Drake did it first and she tried to jump on that wave after with a terrible album. In fact both them shyts was trash if we being real.

Country and Latin music has made some gains but hip-hop/r&b is still incredibly popular

And will be for the foreseeable future

B been doin edm/disco/ house since Destiny Child

I remember they use to release house remixes

As far as her doing country I don't think it's a cash grab

Not like she hasn't dabbled in it before (If I Were A Boy, Daddy's Lessons) ...also it's incredibly risky considering who her target audience is and given how blk female artist face a uphill battle being embraced by country lovers, Bey will be no exception

Oh god, here goes the part when black folk go requesting the song on stations they never listened to to drum up fake outrage over bey’s “country” songs not being in rotation yet…gotta keep the Twitter twittin

This is potentially a good thing

Female artist especially women of color are not embraced by country radio

This is going to bring more attention to the problem

Na, R&B/HipHop almost sold 3x what Country did lol

no, it’s going to bring more attention to “injustices against beyonce” the same way the AOTY arguments continue to erase the other deserving black women while rabid fans hone in on beyonce. None of these people are going to be following up on or fighting for WOC country artists once beyonce moves to act iii

A great thing. Especially with the amount of black collaborations act II will have.

Beyonce is probably going to make a "Country Soul" album more than a true rural sounding Country album, similar to how Ray Charles approached it

This song is/was a modern version of "Country Soul"

Beyonce has the best songwriters and producers in the industry collaborating with her at all times, and 99% of them are BLACK which keeps the music authentic.

There’s no such thing as a “bad” move for an artist of Beyonce’s caliber. There’s a reason she can put a disco/dance album in 2022 and it be the most acclaimed album of the year over the likes of Taylor Swift and Adele. A bad “move” for Beyonce is some little shyt like Kelis bytching about a 2 second sample (of which the lyrics she didn’t write) that was swiftly removed.

The two songs she put out are speeding up the charts. She’s got social media on LOCK right now and…

Ain’t no bad moves coming from that woman’s camp

The Bey AOTY "snub" has bought to my attention and others the fact that a black woman hasn't won the honor in 25 years ...and only 3 blk women in its 64 yrs existence can say they've won an AOTY thanks to the dozens and dozens of think pieces that have followed

Its the ppl who don't feel like Bey deserved the award and believe that r&b/rap are low brow who continue to make this only about her

So yea

Any attention given to what looks to be a systemic issue is a win

Except it’s never extended to the systemic issue. It’s beyonce fans making things a beyonce issue and moving on. Some of y’all get too happy with online hashtags and “moments” vs real movements and outcomes.

Bey fans aren't a monolith lol

This all in great part spurred by Jays speech

SZA losing and B the year prior

That's not even half of it

And it's not just Bey fans who are responsible for making noise and continuing to apply pressure if what we agree is true ... That it's a race issue
