Yeah guess this isn't canon and the son doesn't exist.
Axel was never promoted and is just some 60+ year old detective.

It was entertaining enough. I wasn’t expecting much and I enjoyed it. It did a decent job of having the nostalgia mixed in with present day stuff.
It would have been nice to have more time with the trio together. The callback to the car scene in the original is the only scene when all 3 of them are together. The chemistry between them was one of the best things about the first 2 movies.
Shouldn’t his daughter have been younger than 32? They even make a joke about in the movie about the third movie not being popular and saying “94’ wasn’t your best moment”. That means he had a young daughter and wife when the third movie was taking place.

Amazing they made an 80s action flick in 2024
Little comedy scenes were funny. Eddie still got it, the bad guys looking like stereotypical Dolph Lungrens
Had a good parent theme that wasn't overplayed, great pacing especially for a 2 hr throwback.

When he was younger he did more stunts, rather than just driving in every action scene.
