RD, in my head this isn't even debatable and unlike RD...I bought X's first two albums damn near sunrise the day they dropped.
U the most unbiased person on this site. Ur opinion is the most respected

I understand preference but if u are a unbiased hiphop head this is a laughable thread. I love it’s Dark, but it’s levels to this shyt.

But u aren’t unbiased. So ur compliments ur giving him are ironic. Both these albums are great for different reasons. It all boils down to which one grabs u more. To call this thread laughable is laughable in itself.

So is dark better than Illmatic

because most people in here is basing off impact & popularity. Not one person said it’s a better album

I’m not basing it off impact. And neither of these albums are better than Illmatic. Which I knew u we’re gonna bring up eventually. I actually broke down what IDAHIH does better for me. I can also break down what RD does better than IDAHIH. Quality wise the albums are neck and neck to me. So I picked the one that resonated with me more overall.

That's the thing with Jay stans, they so arrogant they think it's an insult to compare anyone to him. They think anyone who don't worship Jay relentlessly is delusional. They think their stan antics are objective. They want to rewrite history like DMX was some bum that don't even deserve to be mentioned alongside him

Californ-i-a by way of BK
RD had better beats and lyricism, IDAHIH had better club anthems and more energy. Depends on which of the 2 you are looking for..
It’s Dark really had no big club anthems. The album is super dark and content heavy and a lot of story telling songs. Most of Dark is introspective and retrospective and gives you a insight into extreme poverty, neglect, depression which lead to extreme crime and violence. While at the same time X was rhyming his ass off.

Reasonable Doubt is one of the top 5 most lyrical albums ever, imo. Elite/dense rhyming with super clever metaphors and wordplay with in-depth stories about hustling, crime, the suffering, reflection on what it did to the community, but also living the highlife and enjoying his fortunes.

I picked Dark simply because it touched me more as a project. It spoke more to my reality, add on I prefer X's style of storytelling more and his vulnerability when describing his personal demons. That connects more with me.

Both albums are 5 mics imo. Both top 10 rap albums for me personally.

Californ-i-a by way of BK
Intro > Can't Knock the Hustle
Ruff Ryders Anthem > Politics As Usual
fukkin Wit D < Brooklyn's Finest
Look Thru My Eyes < Dead Presidents 2
Get At Me Dog > Feelin It
Let Me Fly < D'Evils
X Is Coming < 22 Twos
Damien = Can I Live
How's It Going Down > Ain't No nikka
Crime Story > Friend or Foe
Stop Being Greedy > Coming of Age
ATF = Cashmere Thoughts
For My Dogs < Bring It On
I Can Feel It < Regrets

The Convo and nikkas Done Started something have nothing to go against, unless you count the RD bonus records, which I fukk with it, but they're not close to those two songs imo.

I dont really even try to compare albums this way because a lot of the times it’s about the way the album flows. But I can’t knock this list. These albums are neck and neck for me I just have IDAHIH over it cause of how it effected me.
