It’s dark most definitely. RD doesn’t have better songs than Stop Being Greedy, Get at Dog, RR Anthem, Crime Story, How It’s going down, X is coming. Plus Dmx had better professional videos. He had the world on fire with his album. Jay-Z wasn’t in the conversation among Nas, Mobb Deep, Biggie, 2Pac, Snoop Doggy Dogg, UGK, Too Short, Geto Boys, E-40, those are artists we played in 1996 and what you heard out of cars not jay z. I admit he ran the world in 1998. But in 1996 he was the guy with the cool song with foxy brown. But he wasn’t what he was 2 years later.

Both excellent and perfect in their own ways....

....but RD was just a great album to me. Whereas "It's Dark..." kind of changed my life at the time, and I saw it change other peoples around me.

RIP X.
Yeah I don't think any album had a bigger impact on my life than It's Dark and Hell is Hot

Reasonable Doubt has gotten way overrated over time IMO. Accolades came way after Jay was established as a mainstream star.

It's Dark was a complete bat out of hell. Album put the East Coast back on top and filled the void 2Pac left.

It's Dark. Reasonable Doubt aged really well. But if we're talking debut album It's Dark and Hell is Hot had one of the biggest immediate impacts of any debut album of any genre ever.
