-we need to understand the destructive nature of allowing so much of our culture being promoted to black children yet being controlled by the white people who hate them.
-sometimes you have to be the bad guy. sometimes you have to be the party pooper. you gotta be the person throwing the wet blanket on all of the fun everybody else having, bc they're not thinking of the long-term implications of what's going on.
-what good comes out of content where you're telling young black men to murder each other when we live in a world where black men are murdering each other.
-BET culpable for promoting artist who promote a lifestyle that feeds young black men into the prison industrial complex
-Same way MLK's "I Have a Dream Speech", and Malcom X and Farrakhan effect black people, blacks are also effected by OT Genesis when he says i'm in love with the coco.
-hip hop is beautiful. hip hop is amazing. lets not let these racist people b*stardize such a beautiful art form and use it as a weapon designed to destroy our children

I kinda want to agree, but I would say in a very narrow sense. The people who need positive images the most are not getting them. Are they even seeing

the alternative to the kinda lives they are living? Is there hope for them? Etc. Its a message. Destructive behavior is normalized and packaged and sold like

toilet paper. Boykins point is very much correct. We already in a barrel, but the people who don't know they are, they won't ever strive to climb out.

Yeah BET back then still had its c00n moments. But at least they had shows like Teen Summit and a few others that actually was about some positive shyt for the most part.

Rap music is so fukking fake and stupid. That shyt irritates me. I listen to that shyt here and there but I'm pretty much off that shyt now. Too fukking negative. Can't have that energy in my universe. It's like eating McDonald's 3 times a day for a year. You taking all that garbage in and it's the worst thing for you. Sad as fukk because that's my culture.
