Ever use a sword? Swords ar more manly.

But not functional. I think it was the WoT series that made me realize that almost every traditional weapon has a doubled use as some sort of tool, for hunting or farming or something. Swords pretty much exist for the purpose of killing men. There is no other use for them.

like a machete, you could swing it around and clear brush. but both aren't much good for 'finer' motions

You could use it to amputate a limb.

You could use a sword to kill an animal.

Wtf happened in this thread? OP said a survival knife, not an axe, machete, or chainsaw. A knife is something that you carry at all times. If you were to get into a car wreck, a rollover, or a blizzard, the knife needs to be functional and small enough for you to carry at all times.

You need a serrated blade to cut through certain things like thick rope, seat belts, wood, etc.
I always carry my knife, whether it be to the store, or the gym.

I've been a rollover. I didn't a knife. I'm a man.
I''ve been in more blizzards than I can remember. I never needed a knife. I'm a man.
I've been in another type of blizzard and I used a machete. I'm a man. :smugfavre:

Knives are pointless. No pun intended.

I had to use a knife in combat as a last resort for self defense. So in my opinion, they are not only the biggest survival tool, but also a necessity...as a man.

Couldn't you just kill a man with your hands?

Whats stopping you from stabbing a cop in the neck or some random when you're drunk?

Lol, nah I'll leave that one for you Rambo.

I also have a CHL and carry a pistol, and it comes with responsibility. Just like carrying a knife. I'm old enough to know my actions can result in serious consequences.

there's another kind of blade that's pretty good for amputating limbs...

If you keep a good edge, you can cut through all of those materials.

I have never needed anything beyond a Mora knife, and there are plenty of others who have had the same experience.

The "Survival" Knives look cool--they are big and crazy looking, but I have found that it is really unnecessary and impractical.

You can use a machete like a knife. It just takes skill.

of course you can. but a smaller knife is going to be more maneuverable and precise

that being said, the guy in the video is doing typical machete stuff

and why do we keep focusing on 'the jungle'. I don't live in a tropical environment

He's done much finer work with a machete, it's just buried in long episodes.
