Unique Buttcap Can Pierce Glass
In addition to the blade end of the knife, Gerber also gave the LMF II a unique, pointed buttcap that is made of stainless steel. This heavy end can be used to pierce glass in the event you need to egress from a helicopter or other vehicle. The buttcap features a smart design that is physically separated from the tang in order to offer shock absorption when it's used as a hammer and also to prevent electrical shock.

Sure fire knife.

Sized and sculpted for a secure grip, the Crank's aluminum frame features a hexagonal opening that serves as a wrench for 1/2" nuts. Slots in the opening hold various coins for use as a field-expedient flathead screwdriver, and rounding out the Crank's functionality is a built-in cord-cutter and a bottle opener.

I wouldn't buy any of those knifes.

All you need is a Mora knife, which can range from 9$ to 200$.

I have a 9$ knife and 19$ knife, and I have used them for a few years now.

They are made of carbon steel, which requires a little maintenance, but they can a hold razor sharp edge. I can cut binder paper like butter, but I can also make feather sticks or cut anything with no problem.

They are also very easy to sharpen because of the Knife's grind. I can sharpen one on the field with no problem.

All the greats use them.

it doesn't seem any of their knives have a serrated edge

You don't need a serrated edge. Serrated edges are for ripping and further damaging flesh at the removal of the blade from an Animal or much worse a Human.

Have fun sharpening a blade with a serrated edge, especially when all you have is a portable stone. Cutting with a knife that is dull is extremely dangerous. If you're out there and your life depends on a cutting tool, a carbon steel blade is your best friend. It will keep a great edge, and it will be easy to sharpen.

In the jungles, Everyone uses a machete, not a "survival" knife. Those Uitility knifes are for people who just want to look cool. A knife is tool for survival. It's not a killing machine.

I'm talking about a partially serrated blade. it still has a straight part that's easy to sharpen

being able to 'saw' things can be very helpful. good luck cutting a decent sized piece of wood with a machete, or any straight edge knife

i do it all the time. I split with with my moras and cut wood.

But if really need to get some standing dead wood, I use a portable saw. A saw is the most energy efficient way to cut wood by far.

An Axe will tire you in no time.

For the Jungle the machete is king. In the north American forest, a knife/saw combo or an Axe are the ideal.

Also a partially serrated blade that is made by gerber is going to be made of Stainless steal, that's tougher to sharpen and hold an edge.

obviously it would be better to have an actual saw, not to mention a bunch of other tools. but I thought this was about one all-around tool for survival
