I went to ignatius for a bit, then left. Know a few brehs that went to Benny and I visited Beaumont and a few of them other female schools… frequently.I can speak on a handful of the Ohio schools listed here, and I think it really requires some contextualization for the purpose of private school.
Private schools exist, currently as a repudiation of public education systems being integrated - the growth in private schools post Brown v. Board of Education was largely to ensure white parents could continue to send their kids to all-white schools. While that isn't the explicit goal of these schools at present - the legacy remains and the financial barrier to access is key.
Outside of a small number of these schools, they will be majority white and still have quite a bit of anti-Blackness embedded in the rules and the handling of incoming Black students.
That being said - a lot of urban prep schools, particularly the Catholic ones - have had Black students and alumni for decades - I know Benedictine in Cleveland does, as does its sister Beaumont School; a Black parent alumni base is the best chance you have at gauging if the school is "right" for your Black child.
Wealthier schools like Western Reserve Academy and Gilmour Academy have some powerful Black alums that provide quite a bit of support to incoming Black students.
Tables in Zenforo suck. I know more now from the Rate HBCU series so I can mKe it nicer but can only get 30 rows per postDope thread but can you fix the formatting
