That ish is pure trash. Freddy haunting the house instead of an Elm Street child? Matter of fact, Freddy possessing people wide awake? A weak protagonist in Jesse.
Should've made his girlfriend the protagonist. She was strong and smart and cute

JESSE IS ELM STREET .. BY PART 6, ALL THE KIDS WHO LIVED ON ELM STREET GOT WIPED OUT .. HE WAS POSSESSING JESSE VIA SLEEP WALKING. IT ALL TIES IN.
BUT BESIDES THE PLOT, JUST THE VIBE OF THE MOVIE WAS DARKER AND LESS CAMP.

Timeout you're saying part 2 the movie where Freddy said you're all my children now and where a coach got towel whipped was darker?
CLEARLY .. THE WHOLE GAY ANGLE WAS DEF WEIRD BUT IT DOESNT SUBTRACT FROM THE DARK CINEMATOGRAPHY OF IT ALL.
I got the darker and less camp, but it is more of a generic slasher type. Jesse was a kid/family that moved in Nancy's house. He nor his family knew about Freddy. They were out-of-towners. He found out from rumors and Nancy's diary. The sleepwalking I get, but he was literally transforming into Freddy, people were actually seeing Freddy towards the end. AND he was weak. Nancy, Dream Warriors, Alice and her squad, his daughter....Jesse don't belong with that group. He was bytching and in tears damn near the whole movie.
The last of the Elm Street kids were in Part 3. Kirsten then added to that in 4 with Alice and gave her power to pull people in. By 6, he was strong enough to control the entire Springwood, eliminating all of the kids. He let the one out to bring more in. By FvJ, they managed to get a hold on their Freddy situation.
2 has an out-of-towner, moving into the house that his archrival once lived in, and terrorizing just that family. It doesn't fit. If you like it, cool. But it is widely considered the absolute worst in the series, and barely mentioned at all. It really is a shytty movie in the opinion of most.
Dark look is different from dark themes and elements. That movie is campy as hell. And from a lighting standpoint much brighter yhb the first.
Now had you said nightmare 3 is darker and less campy than the first I'd agree with that one
NO THE FIRST WAS WAY DARKER THAN 3 LOL AND 3 IS A CLASSIC BUT STILL MORE CAMP THAN 2. CMON FOLKS .. U HAD THE ORIGINS OF HARRY POTTER IN THAT ONE LMAO.
Kids dealing with addiction and depression. Freddy slitting someone's wrist. The religious aspects. Those shyts alone make it a darker movie. All Freddy movies have camp because he's Freddy and he lends himself to that but thematically the stuff in 3 is a lot darker than 2 and a tad darker than 1. 2 is pure comedy man and it's hard to take any of it seriously
3 WAS A PERFECT BALANCE OF CAMP N DARK.. I DIDNT GET A CAMP VIBE OFF 2 AT ALL. 3 IS WHEN FREDDY STARTED WIT THE COMEDIAN SHIIT, WHICH IS DOPE, BUT MAYBE WE GOT DIFF DEFINITIONS OF CAMP.
Yeah and dark apparently because i don't see anything dark about 2 except the lighting since it was a cheaper movie and they cut tons of corners in order to make a quick buck
