Yes it is but i respect the hell out of you for your conviction:russ:
For all its bad rep MI2 defined much of what the series would eventually become. It pushed the series forward into the action genre, it gave us the mask fukkery that is now a series staple plus we might not even have had the motorcycle chase in Fallout if MI2 didn't do it first.:manny:

I agree to a point. I think 3 is more of what it would become. 2 tried to make it a James Bond clone and it’s not Bond at all.

First one is still the best to me...

1 is still flames. No pun intended. It’s also the only true spy movie out of the bunch.

See I’ve never seen it as overly serious lol. Cruise plays it that way but that movie is silly as hell. It feels like dalton in a Brosnan/Moore world
The movie not recognizing it's own innate silliness is part of the over seriousness problem.
It's like in The Living Daylights...Joe Don Baker's character was straight out of a campy Roger Moore style bond movie but they never leaned into it because they were so focused on making a serious Bond movie.
That is how MI 2 was to me.

Living daylights has enough balance where it never feels overly serious. It’s the perfect blend to me.

3 set the path for Ethan Hunt to develop as a grounded character whose moral compass and sense of duty stand in the way of his happiness, but it wasn't until 5 and 6 that it became more than a plot foil.

6,5,4,3,1,2 for me
3 is the defining one of the series since it starts his personal life and onward to each film afterwards. It does start teamwork but 4 defined that to the T and put his personal life with it.

@HHR @MartyMcFly the next picture show is doing 1 vs 6. Though i really hate the new once a week format. I liked to wait until Thursday in the past and just listen to them back to back

I listened to part 1. And you and I have talked about this so you know their part 2s don’t work for me cause I’m not interested in how they feel about the new shyt half the time. For their goldfinger/incredible 2 ep I’ve only listened to the goldfinger portion.

I did listen to hereditary tho because I wanted to hear the connections with don’t look now
