What sectors are good for someone who's still working on a bachelors? Any DoD at all?

It depends on what you mean by government. Federal, State and Local are all different. Locals usually pay shyt, the state a little more and the Feds actually pay pretty good in most cases.

But federal jobs are extremely difficult to get if you have no military background.

Believe it or not the medical benefits are better at the local level though. My mother is a local gov't employee and her benefits are awesome. My aunt is a federal employee and her benefits suck.

That's not true. It depends on the job you are interested in.
